NOTE: This is the full animation! So you don't have to watch part one, it's included in this! Just click the 'play the movie!' button. It's named 'part 2', but it's really the whole thing.

Glenn gives Annie a drawing she likes, winning over her heart. Annie spends the rest of the day trying to coax Glenn into romancing her. All he wants to do is draw, though.

This is the entire animation as it was meant to be seen! It's a whopping 13 minutes long, so don't watch if you don't have that much time to spare. I updated the first half as well, rendering 'part 1' obsolete. So if you haven't seen it already, don't bother, it's included in this. (unless you want to watch it anyway, to see what's different between the two versions or whatever).

Hope you guys enjoyed this, I spent about 9 months-ish working on it (of actual work, anyway), so I hope it pleases! Happy Valentines day!

EDIT: Thanks for the front page!

@ sepphtmage

doc, are you retarted?
anyway, this is was great, keep up the good work Rob

Bobert-Rob responds:

I want to think he meant retarted as in, like... tarting again. But Glenn didn't tart to begin with, so what he said still wouldn't make sense. Hah. Thanks for watching!

Superb

Movies like this really show why animation can be such a great way of telling a story or expressing an idea. I really liked the symbolism used in this cartoon, and it seems like everything had a detailed plan to really bring it all together.

The character designs were simple but expressive, so the way they interacted and showed emotion were really appealing. Using textures was a great idea too, as it added to it a bit more - perhaps use them on your characters? In some scenes you used some shading as well, which I thought looked good, that's something else to consider trying more of.

The composition and timing of scenes was excellent too, it really shows some great planning, and the fact that you know how to direct a story in a way that makes it fun. Adding little touches to the backgrounds, such as the sun's quirky behaviour, the way characters moved from place to place, etc etc. was all really well done. I liked that you took the approach to represent things rather than just depict them, as well as play with reality to get the point across.

Finally, just the way that the characters were conceptualised and the simply story that was told was a pleasure. I felt that even if you might not have intended it, a lot of meaning about loving someone else, knowing how different people can be, trying to fit an ideal, and why it's good to try and understand how they view the world, could be seen in it and it just added something better to what was already a fun sketch.

My criticism would be that the bodily proportions were a tad off, though I can tell that in a desire to create interesting camera angles, scene transitions and to show an idea, you had to be a bit looser with them. Id like to see those animation techniques again, but with more detail, I think it could look great.
The other fault I think is the music - I think it fitted the nature of the whole animation, and I like that you actually made it yourself in the context of it, but (naturally) it was a bit too electronic and a bit too video game-y, which was a bit jarring. They were composed well, but I thought the way they were produced took something away from it.

Overall, you have some great potential as a storyteller and an animator, and i'm sure if you pour your heart into more things some really great stuff could come from it. I look forward to seeing more :)

Bobert-Rob responds:

Well thanks man, I'm glad you took the time to write all that! I knew some fans would take it too literal, so I'm glad you actually enjoyed the looser depiction of everything. And I agree, my perspective stuff does need a bit of work. There were a few times when the hands would be too small, or the animations weren't quite right... and while it's too late to fix this now, it's food for thought as far as my future creations. That and I need to tone it down on the camera moving, from what I hear. I don't wanna make my fans dizzy. :(
Oh, and whatever symbolism you get or hidden messages you find in the story are completely personal. There is a bit of a message with this, but I like the idea that it's up to the user to seek out what that message is. It could be as you said, or just a simple love story, or something even bigger. Such things can be viewed in a lot of different ways and I try to keep it open to interpretation. Makes it more personal for each viewer who wants it to be.
So thanks for watching and complimenting!

well worth the wait

i appologize that i have your picture of spike in my account... im sorry to hear about it. =(

I also wanted to say that your artistic talent really shows in part two. animation was great and plot was humorous. you did a great job and i think you can relax now with all of this off your chest.

Bobert-Rob responds:

Hah, no, it's fine. I always see people with account icons from animations they enjoyed, and it's funny to run across one or two with one of my animation icons in their... icon thing. Damnit that sentence was redundant. Icon icon icon.
Also, yes, I do plan on taking it easy for a little while. I mean, I just released two crazy releases in a row, I'm ready for some smaller works. Well, lets hope they're smaller anyways, these long ones take forever. Thanks for watching!

that was one of the craziest things I've ever seen

and it was pure genius. It was amazing! I couldn't stop smiling for the whole thing. It was super odd and kind of twisted, but really good. It didn't seem like 13 minutes at all, I loved the whole thing - and usually I start twitching after something goes past 5.

Bobert-Rob responds:

Well great, I'm glad you were able to make it through! Thanks for watching!
