This has been the most difficult film I have ever made, because its meaning is very true to my soul. For too much of my life I have been a mindless consumer of time. Hopelessly placing value in things that never gave an ounce of value back. Now that I am older, I worry endlessly that this new generation is making the same mistakes I now deeply regret.

In the end, I hope my message is honest and clear. Whether you agree with me or not, please share you thoughts, spark meaningful discussions, and share this film with everyone you know.

Special thanks to all those who have been my strength - and to all of you for taking a moment to open your minds =)

This is great.

Wish I would have gotten a lecture this good about four years ago or even two years ago when I got addicted to WoW. I am glad though that I hadn't because I got my own stuff together and it didn't take me nearly as long. Been playing video games my whole life short life...from 4-15. Two years ago I was a fat kid. Decided that if I didn't take care of myself I would end up like my grandpa. Got into football and became a JROTC cadet. Now I bench 200 pounds as a Freshman and theres talk from the other football players and the coachs that I am playing varsity next year...and I still play almost everyday. It may be that I do so after 2 1/2 of track practice throwing a 12 pound ball as far as I can but I still play. I lose some sleep, but certainly not to video games. Thats the insomnia...not the point. I'm just typing this up as an example of a good balance. I saw a man lose his job because of WoW. My friend was on a 2 hour sleep schedule because right after he got off work at 10 he got on WoW. My friend Aaron told me when I asked him why he was on Facebook and Myspace all the time that it was how he was living life. Don't let these things suck you in. They are EVIL! You can fix the problem if you have one but you better fix it soon or you'll end up literally glued to the screen in death.

Very True

What you said was very true, however, as you clearly stated yourself, we only have one life. So why not enjoy our single life to our fullest extent? Videogames may dominate many aspects of our lives, but you could also argue that it has many positive effects on society. Instead of going on to say that the side-effects of gaming are severe, you might say that the effects on people who do not realize that a game is just a game are. Because, lets face it, a game is simply a game. It should not in any way impact your real life too much. Moderation is key. (Also, by the way, I completely agree with your view on Facebook. We have Cafes and meeting spots for a reason, so there's essentially no point in using the internet burning your eyes away.) Oh yes, this submission also reminded me of one a few months past that I believe, to a certain extent, tried to accomplish the same thing you did. It was called Dream Adventure!, by Emptygoddess. It seemed to bring your point across more effectively in my opinion, mostly because of its surrealism and lack of words, making it ambiguous so that it didn't really try to force anyone to look at it in any specific way.

In other words.

As i read, it seems that some "reviewers" didn't embrace the meaning behind these words so i try and re format them so they might be able to see that.

What this all means as he said in the end is that playing a video game (he didn't say WoW=anyother game Mr... Swing-Swing is it?) isin't bad. Neither is watching videos on the computer nor anything about computers. But what IS bad is not knowing the limit.

As he said simply playing a game is not bad, for videogames=entratainment and god knows with all the stuff going on in some people's life entratainment IS needed. However one should see that the world isin't all fun and games. If you want to live a life you will not see unfinished at the end, you need to add to the virtual experiences with real ones.

He also pointed out that these games can indeed create a base to real life experiences for all the common intrests it helps to recognize between fellow gamers.

So all in all gaming or being a "gamer" is not bad unless its your full time profession, as it leaves you as much real time as a job as a crane operator in shanghai. (Which is about an hour if you live close to work.)

Also i'd like to add something. I know much people will hate me for it but this tells EXACTLY why wow is not like any other game.
WoW's player base have nothing in common over all. Sure it has communities that have much to common inside them but there's nothing that would cross all boundaries and would unite the players under one flag. And where common intersts divide people up to groups elitism ensues.
WoW may be the "best" mmo in the ratings, it may have an epic back story (which most players don't give to damn about) and a colorful world. But it definitely isn't the best in what MMOs stand for.
An MMO should be a virtual Rome in the meaning that all roads lead to it and from it. It should be a place where different sub-cultures collide and every one can relate to everyone else in one way or another.
However, in my point of view, the creators of this otherwise excellent game forgot that gaming should be what this video states.

A bond between people.

*Epic Wall of Text have returned to its lair to slumber for now.*

No, very well spoken and I agree.
