First up, this is not a game in any form. This is a ship randomizer that procedurally generates a near
infinite number of spaceships. All it has to work on is a bunch of simple shapes.
The windows to the left illustrate the generation progress.
1. The ship midsection is rendered.
2. The midsection is colored.
3. Extension parts are rendered.
4. Engine is rendered.
5. Weapons are rendered.
6. Ship half is duplicated.
7. Contours are rendered.
8. Ship is colorized.
9. Details are added.
The random seed can be used to re-create the exact same spaceship by inputting it in the seed input text field.

Excellent tool
The things I like about the tool is that it is very fast so procedural generation can happen on the fly, as well as the consistent quality from ship to ship. All that is needed is to remember a set of digits. Why can't people write tools like these instead of engines?

Consistently good ships
A ton of very cool designs - I am impressed at the number of real looking cool spacehips this makes with very few duds.
(Along with your "Hello World Machine" I can't wait to see what you do next!)

cool
This is a cool idea. There's a shit-ton of different ships you can generate. My question for you is, is there any way to take these ships for one's own personal use? Like could I generate a random ship then use it in a flash I wanted to make? Or is that a no?
Just some cool ones I found

Yepp, you can use it for personal use. I just finished the AS class version of this generator which you can download here http://hamsterworld.no-ip.info/softwa re/other/shipgenerator.zip
You don't need to edit anything in the class file, and the .fla file shows you how to use the generator. It should be fairly straight forward. You can also add your own parts to the basic ship parts the generator uses, but then the seeds will change as well.

Okay
I realize this isn't a game, but there is no information about what this can be used for. I do like the fact that the ships are completely randomized. I haven't seen any ships that looked anything like each other. Still, where can these be used?
If there was a game where I could input the seeds it would be better.
These kinds of procedural generators could be used for any kind of games. For example if I were to make a shmup game in flash I could use this generator to produce all the enemies in the game, or alternatively I could just choose the ships that look the coolest and save the random seed for the game.
