A little hard but great

The game is a little hard to get used too but it`s fun. The loading time TOO LONG!!!!
But its worth the wait

I am SO disappointed with this game... I waited impatiently for it, but alas I don't enjoy it AT ALL.

here's a couple of reasons why I didn't like it.
1. Overly overly overly complicated to make a song... Honestly, the system in POM 1 was much better, as it allowed for QUICK and EASY editing. Yes it became repetitive very quickly, but still... This system seems to be for "elite" only, people who actually know what they're doing (aka "designed the game"). This is just insane. It's like having to STUDY the game before being able to play it... I'll be the last to say I don't sometimes spend hours over a game, but that means hours playing it, not trying to figure out how it works...
2. The sounds themselves... I tried several riffs, tried combining a few, NEVER did it feel as cool and satisfying as the sounds I had in POM 1. It all sounded rather sluggish, soft... dull...
3. The gameplay... ok you added a new thing: concerts and the like. The control system for "playing your song" is HORRIBLE. Seriously. HORRIBLE. Too much keys, not clear when you're supposed to press the key, etc etc.

4/10 for the obvious BIG and LONG and HUGE work this game must have been, but seriously, I'm going back to POM 1.... sadly :( This game is NOT fun. I feel so bad of saying this, as I KNOW this game has very great potential, and that it IS a good game, but it just didn't answer to what I expected POM2 to be... I hope POM 3 will come to life, where editing will be easy and quick again....

Oh, how i want to love this game

First of all, i still remember playing the first way back, when my knowledge of punk music was from Tony Hawk games and the few CD's my brother possessed. alas, look how ive grown! and so has this game!

The amount of content is staggering, the first few minutes were roaming around it, looking at all the things i could do beyond those damn locked icons...several mins in, still locked....20 mins not one fucking thing unlocked! And i point the finger of blame at the frustrating mini game!! ugh, apart from that, creating the songs itself is incredibly accessible, overwhelming at first but is easily taimed....but is doused by the mini game, the unlockables and customisation is awesome aswell...but is doused by the mini game!!

Dont get me wrong, excellent game!! and the amount of effort and patience put in is admirable, but it just made me think of the first :( it used to be about the music man!!!

A bit uncertain...

When I found the first game about a month ago, the experience was enjoyable, and while there is a limit as to what Punk-o-Matic 1 can deliver, it still has a good replay value. I figured with a great start like that, there's no way the second couldn't be better.

But, I have a few problems.

Firstly, the first was easy to pick up, took some practice to find out what sounds good, and then is easily used to compose wonderful minute and thirty second long songs to download. This is quite far from that. It is extremely complicated, and a first play is very overwhelming. The way you set up the design process is a bit much to handle (though your advice did help quite a lot, thanks :D) What I don't like is that this game looses the ease, and the first few times is more a labor than an enjoyable process. Thankfully, the practice does eventually start turning out much better-sounding and more complex songs than in the original. But I think it's almost to big a step from the first game.

Secondly, the story mode is enjoyable, but I find the idea of earning money to buy new customizing equipment is a tad frivolous. I don't have the drive to do so, because just making the songs and sharing them is what I still find to be the main idea of the game. It does give another aspect of play, however, so I'll say it's a hit-or-miss depending on the person playing.

Finally, the game can produce massive lag, and load problems. While a general performance issue that isn't caused by you directly (yay crappy computer!) it still affected my like of the game.

Over all, a good game, but you need to stick with it to truely enjoy this latest brain-child of your hard labor. The band member attidudes we're great! Keep these coming!

Evil-Dog responds:

Your first point is that it's too complicated, that clearly overweights pom1's inability to make unique songs

Your second point is that career mode is pointless, it's like saying Getting XP in a rpg is pointless, again you don't need to care about customization or playing concert if you just wanna make song and share them

lag I agree, can you PM me your pc specs

overall it is a game you need to learn to appreciate, thanks for the complete review
