Mario Goes to War

This is the very first project I have ever done with Flash CS4. Always watched these videos and always wanted to do something myself and this is my attempt!

It's pretty simple and so is the narrative but I figure it's always good to take something small and do it well than something big and do it awful. I won't take credit for any of the images as I only took them from Super Mario and edited them for my own needs. Thanks Nintendo!

It was originally for an assignment in college which is why there's a button to a website at the end. I removed the script linking it to the website so I wouldn't get in trouble from anyone! :O

Talk about effective advertising LOL

Short and nicely done, the animation was good as well as the sound effects that went with it. The concept was complete in itself, unlike other flashes that don't end very neatly, but this one did, well done!

The only problem I think was that it lacked a stop/replay button, I didn't like the fact you couldn't stop it and that it kept on replaying continuously. However, the lack of such a feature doesn't feel to me that it should cost you deductions in ratings or whatever. Although I don't like flash submissions that act like advertisements (because most of the time they're very short, which gets annoying), if they are very humourous, I'll let it go, and this one amused me, so well done.

Otherwise top-notch job, I didn't have a problem with anything else in your flash, well done.

Opening statements:

There are many things in this flash I would consider fatal to your overall score; your lack of a replay button, lack of a play button, and the already mentioned loop. But you deserve this great score (at least it is from me) and your 5/5 vote for the following reasons:

Purpose: This is to advertise for the army and it does so effectively in a humorous manner. Also, taking into account ads are usually poor in comparison to this one, I decided to grade it as if it were an ad; a major factor in deciding your score.

Content: At first I was going to blam it for having to sit through another Mario flash, but I gave it a shot. The audio was nicely done and true to form, and the tank is just pure win.

Now, what made your flash an 8 instead of a 10?

Flaws:

~Your link does not work.

~Your flash repeats with no play button or replay button.

Fix these, and you would be worthy of a 9 instantly, maybe even a 10. Great work.

AzzyDude24601 responds:

Thanks for the advice. Much appreciated. Just about the button that doesn't link anywhere. I had to remove that cause it was against the rules to link to another site and then I simply neglected to put in a replay button!

I'll know it for the next one!

woah...

the tank... is distracting...

Well...

It was quite nice idea but in my opinion my problem is that sprites mismatch so badly. It's mostly 'New Super Mario Bros.' sprites, no? You should have used Mario from the same game instead of 8-bit one. It would have looked much better.

Also you should have continued animations as the flying Koopa Troopas are just stuck in the air doing nothing and the Goombas just stop middle of the screen.

Other than that it was quite well done and animation is quite fluid so this is good for the first animation.

WoooW

that That right was awesome, if only the creater of super mario could
put a tank, then it will easy to complete the game
