Bongo Boom Battlegrounds is a strategy game inspired by Patapon for the Sony PSP. Customise your army, choose a mission, then lead them into battle using a drum-based control scheme to give commands. Along the way you will encounter an 18 chapter storyline, a variety of enemy soldiers and several large bosses to defeat!

One of the reasons I created this was because it was really HARD looking for a Patapon-type game for the PC, so I made my own: the general style and control scheme may be borrowed from Patapon, but the story, artwork, and other game mechanics are entirely my own. I hope you will enjoy it, and have fun! Feedback is most welcome...

Instructions to play can be found in the game, everything is controlled by the arrow keys and spacebar.

Additional note: Thanks for all the comments, everyone! I hope you all had fun with the game. I've taken note of the more constructive suggestions and criticisms, and am currently working on the sequel... as for those who still feel it's too much of a patapon ripoff, then i sincerely apologize! it was never meant to be a 100% ripoff, i just really liked the idea of using drumbeats to control an army... so i made my own version of it. :)

Waka Waka Woo-hoo

All around great game! The art style is really neat, and the gameplay is lots of fun. I have noticed that the beat is somehow just a tad slow (see GeneralOzeroth's review), but that's no big deal. If there's a sequel in the works, a swappable bank of units would be nice. Especially welcome would be a pause button - playing this while talking is tough!

Very addicting

Reading the other reviews I see that some people found it hard, it was generally a good game but if you remake it add a difficulty slider, i only failed a mission once and i found the game easy while other people are finding it quite hard.

Balance Was also quite good but I found that the best way to kill a boss is to spam attack retreating every now and again.
Summary:Strategy needs More options not just brainless attack advance spam
Balance Good, storyline Good but higher tier units seem rushed and story Needs more "chapters" as it were.

Very cool

The only thing I dislike is that you have to grind to get enough resources to make troops, and that you can't update 3rd tier troops.
For chapter 16, it's not that hard - 2 ballistas, 2 fully upgraded legionnares and whatever else you want fightning defensively (if you enter kill mode, break ita nd continue fighting defensively) did it easily for me

Great game!

I really liked the design and the , no matter if the idea was new or not.
However, I agree with TrueReview concerning the concept flaws.

Oh, and I too couldn't pass the DAMNED tresure level!!! What the hell?? They keep respawning and respawning, and as soon as you've oushed them to a certain limit, they just don't go back further and kill you in mere seconds!

Lil' help please? =(
