Bongo Boom Battlegrounds is a strategy game inspired by Patapon for the Sony PSP. Customise your army, choose a mission, then lead them into battle using a drum-based control scheme to give commands. Along the way you will encounter an 18 chapter storyline, a variety of enemy soldiers and several large bosses to defeat!

One of the reasons I created this was because it was really HARD looking for a Patapon-type game for the PC, so I made my own: the general style and control scheme may be borrowed from Patapon, but the story, artwork, and other game mechanics are entirely my own. I hope you will enjoy it, and have fun! Feedback is most welcome...

Instructions to play can be found in the game, everything is controlled by the arrow keys and spacebar.

Additional note: Thanks for all the comments, everyone! I hope you all had fun with the game. I've taken note of the more constructive suggestions and criticisms, and am currently working on the sequel... as for those who still feel it's too much of a patapon ripoff, then i sincerely apologize! it was never meant to be a 100% ripoff, i just really liked the idea of using drumbeats to control an army... so i made my own version of it. :)

to put it simply.. this is for those people (like me) who does not have a PSP, never played even once, or heard the game Patapon but never played it.. etc etc...

i have played patapon before (because my friend have PSP)..

this bongo may not be as great as the real thing, there are a lot of parts that this game does not have in the patapon

like when spamming the forward movement, the creeps/meat just stand there, usually if you forward too much you would scare them and they would run away..

at least, you can already buy diff type of units at the start.. and upgarde them..

other things missing.. the voices of them patapons.. the drums of bongo is weak..

boss fight is different..

in short, if you had fun in this, just think how much fun you will have when you play patapon..

to people who already played patapon and who already finished it.. this games not for you..

to those who just like to play, play this :D

Not bad but...

Overall not bad. Since it is clear, that you did not want to steal the idea, I'll just let it pass as "Freedome of the Author". But two things, wich really bugged me: The drum-sounds are right out of hell. Try to get better ones (if you care, I could send you a collection of decent drums). And the rythm is somewhat delayed. It is almost impossible to achieve a decent combostreak.
Next time you make a game, keep that points in mind and try to make something completly own.

Great game!

I've never played patapon...the only chance I had to play was the official flash game, but is nothing like this.
Thanks and well done... ^.^/
