Hey everyone, here's a game for you. It's a moody little puzzle game about a hermit that expands on the mechanic seen in games like Cursor*10 and Chronotron.
Bonus points go to Luka Marcetic, who handled the art, and David Carney, who wrote the music.
Don't forget: If you mess up, push R to reset the level. P or Escape to pause-Volume controls are in pause menu.
Normally I wouldn't write a review. I just don't. However, for this one I had to.
The game was superb. The writing was amazing, the gameplay was simple yet endearing, and the storyline tugged on my heartstrings.
Yet that's not what got me.
It was her name. You see, my love, too, is named Kathryn. Spelled the same way, which is why when I saw her name in the opening monologue I knew immediately that I had to play this game to the end. Never did I think that it would end so sadly...
So yes, I will commend you on making an amazing game. But for this user, the biggest appeal was the name of the love interest.
The game was really amazing. You could feel the inensity from jack. This my friends is why i consider video games an art.
P.S: "I Am Jack's Broken Heart"- Fight Club
Simple, yet gets the story and message across. It's hauntingly touching, especially when you realize...he himself is the cause of his loneliness.
Even I too...
...shall no longer listen to your story Jack. Fare thee well. You were a good (If not mentally unstable, as well as murderous) friend. I truly did sympathize with Jack...if only more games could convey such feelings with such intensity, clarity, and efficiency.
This was a terrific, sad, amazing game. You feel for the character, and you are almost brought to tears by the scene with Kathryn, and the shrink's story. I hope you make more submissions like this, you are truly inspiring.
You are a terrific flash artist. Your combining of simple pixels with compelling backgrounds and smokey effects make for a harmoniously clashing setting for a terrific story.
