As a kid who grew up during the 80's, with both the Bill & Ted movies and the Back to the Future Trilogy, I thought about time travel quite a bit. There's a part in Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure where they need an item (car keys, I think). They promise to, later, come back to that spot (by traveling to the past) and leave themselves the item so they would have it available right then in the present.
With this idea in mind, at around 10 years old, I realized that I could do the same thing to find out whether or not I would ever be successful at inventing my own time machine. Sadly, each time I promised myself I would return to that exact moment and leave myself confirmation, it never happened. Of course, since I didn't want to give up on the idea of time travel, I would dismiss it. I would convince myself that future me (the one who successfully invents a time machine) had some very good reason for not confirming my success. Perhaps it would have caused a tear in the space-time continuum...
Of course, Narc's t-shirt is a Bill & Ted reference. I made a t-shirt almost ten years ago using iron-on letters that just read "San Dimas High School Football." I still have that shirt and wear it regularly. Narc's is the updated version. ( available here: www.zazzle.com/apt404 )
And yes, that was a Flight of the Conchords reference there at the beginning. I love that show. Oh, and the song at the end is "If I Could Turn Back Time" by Cher. I don't condone listening to Cher, I just thought it would be good for the credits...
