A movie about longing, dreams, loss, and time travel. AWESOME.

So I made this movie a few years ago. It was finished just before I started work on AwesomeRaptor. It remains the longest flash movie I've ever made. There is no dialogue, and it originally didn't even have music. And that's the main reason I never uploaded it.

But it has music now! Thanks to Chris Zito's (amazing NG voice actor and pretty cool artist too) massive music library, I was able to tune this thing up with some... tunes.

I really hope you guys like it, but if not... that's cool. Let me know what you think!

EDIT: Thanks for daily third and front page! I love you Newgrounds, and your leader Tom Fulp. <3

Also, to all you guys claiming the movie has no ending... it does. Know that part where the movie stops and the replay button appears? That's the end. The story has an intentionally ambiguous conclusion that is meant to inspire personal interpretation and conversation. Any more traditional ending I could've included would've robbed the viewer of the opportunity to really think about the movie's message. Thanks for watching!

That's it?

Well it was a good simple story, but it ended so abruptly. He goes into the time machine and stops himself from making the time machine, but when he enters we see the after effect that it did to the room, so what happen to him? Did machine vaporize him with itself? Did he make it to the past? Was he successful? It just feels like an unfinished story.

I was going for ambiguity so that people could interpret the ending however they'd like.

Great work, but a bit ambiguous at the end

I thought you did a great job of telling the story without any dialogue. If you can do it effectively (and it seems you can) then I don't think there's anything wrong with leaving voices out of the picture. The music was well-chosen, although the volume of 2nd track towards the end was noticeably low.

I thought your animation was good, although some of the minor characters (like the robots) seemed more detailed than the main character. The minimalism in detail worked well with the girlfriend, but I thought the protagonist could have used a bit of spice. Also, I think a fight scene between the couple might have helped illustrate the strain on their relationship a little better -- the montage showed me he was working on a time machine, but it wasn't as clear that he was placing excesssive strain on his relationship.

Finally, I didn't quite understand where the protagonist was going at the end.

SPOILER ALERT

I gathered he was going back to remedy the situation with his girlfriend, but didn't know precisely when he had in mind, and thought it was a mistake to leave that out. It felt like you cut things off at the third act, or maybe at the climactic moment, depending on what you envision the protagonist doing. It may also have worked better if he had been spiteful and actually gone to the future (maybe set up a bank account in the present and got rich?) before realizing that love was more important.

I can see how using the time machine to fix things might be problematic -- is he going to convince himself not to make the machine and hope it changes his own timeline, or what? If it seems like the circumstances in which he could fix things are too complicated or unlikely, it might be better to end it on a sad note -- let him get the most out of his time machine, but end it with him sadly observing his past self and the love he lost. I don't know what you'll decide to do, but I do hope you do something. You have the makings of a great story here, but I think you need to revisit it and consider its plot and theme. It's good in its current form, but feels unfinished.

The ambiguity of the ending was always my intention. I wanted to inspire discourse and conversation.

Perhaps his journey to the past would allow him to correct his mistakes. Perhaps the time machine never worked at all, and he just blew himself up and now he's dead. I left the ending open because I wanted people to create their own interpretations, and I'm glad you did. Thanks for watching!

Entertaining

Very concise plot- Man with dead end job. Had a dream. Want that dream. Fixated on that dream. Obsession with dream ruins present relations. An epiphany occurs, then a resolution? Sure, a resolution.

All in all, a very nice movie. Not too short or long. The guy's really smart though, for building a time machine. Find it funny that his job involved pushing paper.

You know, I never did consider that his intelligence probably would've earned him a better job. Thanks for watching!
