This isn't the kind of game you usually see on newgrounds so I won't be shocked if some of you don't like it. I figured reading through all the text might be a little boring so we decided to get a professional voice actor to help. Please let me know what you think =)

Special thanks to:
- Ian Yates (my brother) for writing about 50% of the script.
- Jesse Hopkins (composerarts.com) for his awesome voice acting.

Hope you enjoy the game!

Thanks,
Neil

UPDATE:
- Added ability to 'try again' after dying. This takes you back to the start of that area (ie, office, street etc).
- Fixed problem with text speed
- Fixed some spelling/grammatical mistakes

It was ok..

I mean, it was pretty short. For a text based game, you didn't put much effort into it.

For example, even though through some decisions it says "you wasted time", that doesn't mean anything and won't affect your game in any way.

Not only that, but no matter what group you decide to go with (except the guys with the gun), The outcome is always the same, they want the jeep, and you don't. The only time your decision affects the outcome of the game is the very last decision you make in the game (Kill your wife, cut off her fingers, or run). And I didn't like that, there should be have been different scenarios for certain decisions like wasting time, such as your wife would be dead by the time you got there, or your team chooses a different vehicle, but no matter what you pick besides on the last deicison, the entire game is the same.

For a text based adventure, this is really lacking, as most of these have different scenarios for each decision you make, while this doesn't. Try harder next time, but I had some fun.

Good text-based game!

I am not really fond of text-based game but I must admit that this one was captivating, thanks to the great storywriting.

Unfortunately, I didn't get to enjoy the voice acting because I had to skip most of the narration.
The reason being that animations lagged big time on my computer. The voice had finished and the text was not halfway trough. There is a way to synch animations with sounds so that it adjusts framerate to keep pace. Check it out next time.

Once, it didn't give me the option selected. I think I asked for a vehicle but it gave me the motorbikes anyway (the second time we have to choose).

Typos : I may never she (see) her again.

Very nice job

The atmosphere of this game was very scary, which is a great thing to see, since most games now seem to go for the "shock scare".

I agree with the other reviewer, however -- this game really really needs checkpoints, or chapters, so you don't need to follow the same path over and over. I do like to check out different paths, but after that I don't want to have to go through the same first screens over and over and over.

Interesting idea, could've been done better.

I liked what you did with this, certainly, but in the end I just got fed up of trawling through all the options over and over every time I tried again. On a related point, the voice actor was a little pointless, since I ended up just skipping it so I could read the text and options without having to wait for the text to be slowly read to me.

In the end, I wanted to try and finish it but I just got too bored of clicking through the whole thing to try a certain choice again. Maybe having checkpoints would be a better idea, since it seemed to me like there's a fairly linear correct course anyway, with some options only really serving to add to the story or change your "Compassion" score.

Overall, this was a good effort that could've been put together in a better way.
