Ok,as promised here is my review to one of the most magnificent sprite games on Newgrounds! ;) I will spend exceptional effort into making this review! ^-^
All right, without further ado, here it is:
Graphics: The sprites are all right, and the game features several very well-animated sequences like the beginning of the Intro or the short fighting scene between Zeke and Hibito in the beginning! Also, the temple of the Essence and the battlefield when eating Pudding..er I mean, when [b]eating Pudding is nicely detailled and reminds me of some good GBA or PSX RPG's!!
Battles: The battles are awesomely animated, and I don't even want to begin to imagine how much work you put into creating such a bad-ass game! You are improving ever much more in your fighting scenes and there isn't much left that a viewer starts thinking of a DBZ episode when watching your fight-scenes! I at least sure did think of DBZ in those moments!! You are on par now with Alvin-Earthworm in terms of battle animations!
Tutorial: Ah,yes the first flashy part in the game! The tutorial is cool,I had more fun in it than in the story progress xD However,it is quite confusing and it seems I'm not the only one who had problems...now,by the time,I figured out that you have to press and hold SPACE BAR the whole time after an initiated attack.
Ideas/Concept: The game features some nice ideas like elemental spells, which remind me of Avatar the Air Bender, and Timed Hits!! oh shoop da whoop, who gave this idea? xD Well, the Timed Hits are surely a nice addition to the game. They are not too hard to pull off for Hibito but it's not an easy task by any means!
So it is quite a challenge to do a timed hit with him,and that's good since it aids to the dramatic situation they are facing! Ristar however, has an easy job to pull those timed hits off...I don't know why you made it so extra slow during his special attack, but it surely wasn't a clever idea...it takes much of the drama and I dun think that Pudding would let him that much time to perform the attack...duh..But the idea with nature spells is very good and has tremendous potential for future installments of the series!
Story: It has a well thought-out story but it gets really boring in the process! The dialogues are too long and take sometimes much of the tension, but it is for the sake of a storyline-boost so that future installments are less dialogue-filled. I find the variety of persons is amusing and it seems that you try to create every character imaginable like a hot-headed Hibito,or a Sephiroth-like Zeke and up to a very cheerful and positive-minded Amy! Yes,Amy is really my favourite character due to her optimistic..uh,character! The story simply NEEDS such a person x3 and I guess Hibito will be a bit tamed by her in the future ;)
Sound: Excellent choice of music, dude! The sound spectrum covers tragic as well as encouraging sounds! But I just can't stop watching the scene when Amy follows Ristar and Hibito! She says:''MISTER RISTARR!!!'' and the music which plays in that moment is just...omg xDD I love this scene so badly ><''
Extras: The game features a ''Scene Select'' option, which is good due to the nature of the long storyline! Also I was really shocked when I saw the ''serious Guy''-Easter Egg O_O Much thankies for this MNM,you are da BEST x33
Final Note: It wasn't as I expected since we,as players, couldn't transfer our data from the previous game as you promised earlier, but overall the game was entertaining and I'm more than sure that you will improve even more in the next game ;) Keep up the brilliant work! I know why I hearted you as author ^-^
