Space based RTS

Eridani is a space based real time strategy where you build your base round the edges of planets. Mine resources from asteroids to build various combat ships and interplanetary missle that are fired from the planets surface (some of which can destroy entire planets!)

Also features "Skirmish Mode" where you can create your own battle in a randomly generated sector.

I wish you could reply to other people's comments on here. I figured the game was an early project, not beginner at all considering the complexity. There's upgrades, tiers of locked upgrades, maps that unlock those upgrades... etc. Didn't notice a performance hit, and my computer was $500ish from like... 2010? I don't even know. First play in 2022 and I liked it, I just have got to go to sleep for work tomorrow.

Well done dude, hopefully you've made something else in the meantime. I'll have to check when I get home. I'm sure it could've been better, but ~13 years ago? I'm not mad at all, still enjoyable!

That. BGM.

Lag killed this game. The tutorial freezes when you have just 20 ships! You click on a button and literally nothing happens for two seconds, real time. How is a flash game this slow in 2020? Are you using movieclips? You should be drawing all the ships as textures directly to a single "screen buffer" bitmap. Are you creating and destroying objects per-ship every frame? You should be using Object Pools! I've been out of the AS3 game for a while now, so the words I've used here might not be the most cutting-edge Flash optimization techniques, but I know pointless lag when I see it. There's no excuse for a game with this few moving parts running this slowly. But they're phasing out Flash at the browser level anyway, so do yourself a favor and learn Unity. Programming with JS in Unity is surprisingly similar to AS3, so the only thing you'd need to learn would be the editor.

I loved this game for years and am finally reviewing it.

I love this game! I love the simplicity yet the need for strategy. I love upgrades on any game and of course I go right for them on this game. With any of my upgrades peeves that I have is that it is nice to actually see the visual upgrade. i know that something like that is small but it is just one of my things with any upgrade in any game.

Resource games can be very addicting like this one. I just wish the lag, oh the severe lag. Its the only killer of the game that I can find. It almost makes the game unplayable, but it is very addicting so I keep coming back.

AI, is a little weak but that is fine because I believe that it is balanced with each side.

i can go on more but I want to play.

I dont know. I would like to do it, and I am sure I could do a much better job second time around, with better performance and loads more ships. Its always just the time & money issues

so i've played this game some, and it's really something different to see this in a flash game, because yes: this is a quality game. and then you play and it's all good and it's a really well developed set of buildings and ships and such... but then your ship flies right passed the thing you want it to attack, or flies right into a mine after you told it to turn left twice... and the planetary destroyer, of all things, just won't stop going straight at the enemy... even though it can shoot form a distance. that's really something. i get it, it must be hard to program a good ai, but comepared to the other elements of this game the AI is really below standard.
