The score was composed by Newground's own Hania Lee.

Now that we've got this one out we can focus completely on Tarboy II.

The best movie on Newgrounds to date.

"Tarboy" is a true film. The meaning of this title may have a skewerd interpretation when one thinks of Newgrounds, but this is a masterpiece within the boundaries of Flash animation. Years from now, artists will look back and know where they set the bar, and how to create diverse works of art, for not only did "Tarboy" raise the bar, but it put it at a place where no one can reach it.

With a story that was fresh, original and creative, and yet well known and understood, "Tarboy" gripped the viewer in automatically with its amazing use of vocabulary, diction, and emphasis. I was entranced when the grandfather was describing the workers toiling away, and enthralled with Tarboy carrying out his revenge. The story was second to none, and if Tarboy himself does not grab a solid place in the image of Newgrounds, I don't know what will.

The special effects...well, I have no clue where to begin. I can honestly say that this is the ONLY film I have ever watched on here that literally had my jaw open, with a slight grin pinching at the corners of my mouth, as I stared, dumbfounded, at the computer screen, trying to comprehend how such an amazing feat could have been accomplished wiithin Adobe Flash. The light effects were the most amazing thing since I watched Michael Gagne's work in such films as "The Iron Giant", "Osmosis Jones", and "Prelude to Eden". I never expected to see such a high calibur of dimension, detail and realism in lighting from anyone other, let alone on here. But this did just that. It simply leaves one in awe.

As an added note, the music was excellent. The scenarios were presented in such an emotional manner with the songs added to them, such as (yes, I must mention it again) the workers scene, where one can feel the harshness, anger, and cruelty by the lighting, music, narrative and perspective.

"Tarboy" has and secured its place as one of the great animated shorts. Not only on this site, no no; when I think of "Tarboy", I place it near and dear by some of the most innovative and original shorts to ever be created, with the great storytellers like Tomek Baginski, Douglas Lassance (Asterokid), and all the wonderful students at and graduated from Les Gobelins and Supinfocom. An instant classic.

Be proud, and keep on bringing on the amazing.
