One Dimensional Quest is an experimental game. The premise is that the entire game is played out in a single dimension, that is. There is no height, no depth. Length only. (final destination!)

The keys are
Up arrow: Jump
Left arrow: Move left
Right arrow: Move right

You play as the hero, the blue bar. Your goal in the game is to collect 8 leprechauns, the green bars, and return them to your home.

But alas, the way to the leprechauns are filled with peril. There are lava pits, red bars. Eeevil rogues, orange bars, boxes, yellow bars, and teleports, purple bars.

Your only defence against all these dangers are that you can jump for a short time to avoid them, but that in itself will not be enough to complete your quest.

Okay okay, you got me. The game actually got height as you can plainly see. Well I didn't want anyone to strain their eyes looking at the infinitely thin line representing the game so it pretty much ended up like this.

The music loop is from flashkit. Ghosts by Mark.

GREAT game!!! The graphics give a 1-D field, and are nicely done even so!

I do think that jumping is more of a translucent force-field than a jump though, since this is a 1-D game.

Oh my god dude this is so awesome. I was thinking for awhile about what 3D is--an infinite layering of 2D planes and the perception of depth between them. Then I tried thinking about 4D like that at which my brain promptly exploded. Then I started wondering what exactly is 1D? I've never really perceived 1D before, well at least I can't say I have in an interesting enough way to keep it in memory. Then I looked for 1D games and low and behold awesomely crafted awesome in 1D. I want to eventually make something cool with 1D being the central idea and this is totally great inspiration. Kudos brosef, all my fives belong to you =]

Graphics+1 Storyline+1 Gameplay+1 Music+1 Effort +1.
Out Of 5 I'd give this 5.

You managed to create a 1 Dimensional Game that was fun, nuff said.
At first I was unable to pass the first obstacle but once I did The true nature of the game revealed itself.

Completely Original

I had an idea like this a long time ago, but I never could have executed it this well. You did a fantastic job. Stretching it this way was a good idea too. It's still technically one-dimensional since it's a line, and it avoids eye strain this way.
