When Pigs Fly is a game about teaching yourself to fly. It's not easy! Those big, feathery wings will help you take to the air, but they're also delicate. Bump into the wall and feathers will fly! You'll have to steer through this trecherous cavern if you want to see the sky again.

The SPACEBAR, SHIFT or Z all work.
Use the LEFT and RIGHT arrows to steer while off the ground.
The M key mutes the game. The S key just turns off the squealing.
If you quit in the middle of the game your place will be saved! Don't worry.

When Pigs Fly is an Auntie Pixelante game!

Edmund McMillen really helped this game to take flight. And Tom Fulp was amazing enough to ensure it stayed there. Thanks!

All you do 90% of the game is "fly through 2 squares gap" thing. This is the only real challenge of the game. That's not enough for a good game.

Pretty Lame

First of all, I didn't finish this game, towards the end it just didn't seem to intrest me. The graphics were very basic, and I know it's a pixel game, but I thought the graphics were a bit below average. The music was good, although I would have preferred more than 1 song, and the control was smooth (If not a little jumpy at times).

However, the gameplay was VERY stale. I didn't like the fact that you couldn't walk while on the ground (But I can see how walking could eliminate some of the challenge of the game), but the lack of depth is what ruined the game for me. I must have played through 35+ levels and still didn't find anything too intresting. I think enemies that move around or, I don't know, puzzles that require timing would have really improved the game's fun factor. Also, the later puzzles were actually quite difficult to complete. I felt that the game could have benifited with a difficulty setting. Perhaps on the easy setting you could have a "Wing Integrity" bar, that allows a few bounces off walls before your wings break. That way less people would leave bad reviews claiming the game was too hard. My final gripe is that, on slower computers the game does lag quite a bit, but, oh well what can you do?

The concept I must say is very original, and I think you could have done alot more with the idea of pigs flying. The game was fun at times, but after a few levels, the repetive gameplay made me wish the next screen would be the last. Good luck on a sequel if you ever make one!

Well. Whaddaya know.

I rate this game a 10 with good reason.

The game is basically about a poor pig that falls in a hole, and it can't get out. What happens next is inevitable evolution, despite common belief.

The game uses the old-school bit-style, and that gives it more flavor. The levels are just plainly genius, using your own abilities against you. (Walls and spikes and lava, oh my!) Warning, pig IS flammable - and wings are made of porcelain.

Addressing difficulty, that is an interesting topic. Some may say that this game is "too difficult". I concur. Fact is, this is pretty accurate for how difficult games USED to be "back in the good old days" of old-school games. And even then, this game is quite easier (with the whole, "no lives-limit" and "respawn on the same stage"). I would say, this game sets the correct par for all games on Newgrounds to strive for - "difficult", but you learn.

This game uses simplicity as something to make it exceptional. I give the game a perfect "10" (out of 10), and I recommend everyone to play this game (just as long as they are able to get past the first few stages).
