Nah, Alex is French and can't hide her accent very well, it wasn't part of the jokes no. That'd make no sense unless Bioware themselves were French.

BioWare said they were going to make the game dark with lots of twists but, I thought the storyline and style were just dull and kiddy. Thanks for pointing this out!
