Madness Started With Krinkels
It should stay with him, no more tributes to krinkels masterpiece "Madness", im sure krinkels is dying inside for each spin off tribute type madness homage.
Move on
You can stay in your comfort zone and just steal krinkels' sprites, using them over and over again, but if you really want to be the best you can be, you need to put more effort into it. Start drawing, start experimenting with new animation techniques. Make your own characters, story, plot etc. Anyone can start at Madness, or sprite ripoffs, or whatever, but it's time you move on.

I love to see people do their own takes on Madness, everybody brings something new to the table. While I think this first one is pointless, you probably plan to amp it up in future episodes. When he was charging with the sword, it looked like you threw that in with paint, if the rest of the series is just going to be variations of that, don't bother.
Keep working, you'll get it eventually.
