Love the engine!
I kinda like the engine, but the game was not THAT good. A little challenging and stuff, but not that game I want to take much time to play.

Simplicity
I believe that the beauty in this game is the simplicity involved. Because of that, it has become quite addictive for me, demanding I learn how to regularly score above 500,000.
In my humble opinion, the suggestion that you should be able to fight back, or that you can pick up the downed people would work entirely against what you have here, and indeed wreck the effect. The game is easy to learn, tricky to master, and that's exactly what anyone should be shooting for in a game.
