Hyper Collider started life as "Space Avoider", a simple sci-fi-themed programming exercise based on Michael J. Williams' excellent ActionScript 3 tutorial. While playing a working prototype, the idea of awarding points for skillful maneuvering came to mind; once it was implemented, the game began to come into its own, and it was thanks to the suggestions of TheGunheart that its retro visual style was established.
The in-game music track is "80s 8" from 8-Bit Rocket. The game's various sound effects are royalty-free FX from Flash Kit.
