Ok. So this is my first flash subbmision ever on newgrounds. This took me a few days to make and I hope it is good enough to be at a good start in flash movies.

I know its not very good because its my first.

Try to give me tips on what you think I should do to improve. Thanks!

Try something more simple

Well submitting your animations to newgrounds might be good, but finding a smaller site where you can know the people better is a great advantage. Try looking into other sites, I am currently in constrution on mine so you can look out for that. But try out www.sfdt.com , I would suggest also doing a mix of putting up your animations on both sites. ( I am not trying to promote a unrelated site - to rules). And try not using gradients, it might be easy but to use it in a smaller quantity would be make it look better. I would suggest to also use line animation for the basics, I currently use that and it is helping. Even more try out easing the figures, like when you make the stick run. You can make the speed of the stick increase from a slow walking to a job then 2-3 frame into a sprint. Hope this helps you.

Has potential

-Preloaders: http://www.newgrounds.com/downloads/p reloaders/
(NG throws a space in the URL somewhere, so be sure to get rid of that.) Put this into the first frame of your movie, and then start from frame 2.

Art: crude, but improvement comes with practice. Check out the tutorials here: http://www.newgrounds.com/collection/
flashtutorials (again, watch out for the space).
Animation: amateur, but again, you're a beginner. Tutorials.
Style: not seeing one yet.
Sound: music was okay, but you needed some sound effects in there.
Scripting: type "stop();" (no quotes) into the script panel for the last frame. Add a replay button.

Overall: 2/5, 3/10. I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt because you seem to be an honest animator who wants to put in the necessary effort. Keep working on your skills.

You're on your way...

I can see some nice little animation skills in there. The flame effect you made there impressed me quite a bit. That was rather good. and the red lightning effect too.

The drawings in general need to be better though, you just need to hone in on your drawing skills. I would advise learning to draw things on your own instead of using the automated tools that Flash offers you, if you know what I mean (like the shaders you used on the balls, and the square tools), because they can sometimes look quite shabby.

Also, try and plan out your animation before you draw it, otherwise you may end up having points in a scene that make little sense. Some of the squares on your scene had little meaning.

Try and figure out how to make a loading bar as well. It may seem a little complicated at first, but you will thank yourself that you put yourself through the torture when you include them on your movies.

Also, make sure you NEVER loop a movie. ALWAYS put a replay button. That almost always gives an animation automatic low ratings. The only person that that mainly doesn't seem to apply to is Weebl, but he is a magic man.

I could see some very good things in that animation that show that you have the ability and determination to develop your Flash skills.

Just keep practicing them, and all will be fine.

Well..

...l am pretty impressed!
If this is really your first animation, then you have a lot of talent!
Sure, it can be improved on a lot of points but it was fluid and nice-looking.
I gave you an 8 because this is your first submission.
Keep getting better!
