UPDATE: A couple people have been asking for the game for their site - if anyone else wants it, please simply send me a PM and i'll send you a thumbnail of the size that you need, plus the .SWF.

Hi Newgrounds!

This is my third game (I think - who's keeping track anyways...). I'd have to say this is my best one yet.

This rhythm game has been helped IMMENSELY by the newgrounds community.

I actually remember posting in the audio forum a couple months back asking if anyone could help me out by letting me use their songs, and I got a lot of helpful, positive replies - so thanks NG, and a big thank you to all the music artists that allowed me to use their songs (check out the list to your left)!

Thank you to - the site's owner is very good at graphics, and helped me with the game's reskin (the game originally looked really bad!).

This is also my first self-sponsored game (my last one got sponsored by arcade reign), in order to boost the launch of my new flash game portal (wish me luck!) - http://www.littlemonsterg

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the term 'sponsoring', it means a company pays you to put their branding/logos in your game, in order to gain publicity and traffic to their website.

So I hope you enjoy the game - I'll read every comment, so please leave one :)

Edit: Newgrounds is only letting me credit up to eleven songs, so I've just credited 1 song per artist to be fair (there's nine artists, but over twenty songs). The full list of used songs can be found in-game (click on 'credits'). Thanks again music artists!

Edit: Haha, sorry guys! I accidentally uploaded a version without a preloader! I hope that didn't annoy you too much with a file that big :)

All fixed now though!

As an avid and very skilled DDR and stepmania player, I'm going to be extremely critical of this game.

First: difficulty. Professional was MUCH too easy. Turning quarter notes into double arrows doesn't make it harder. Adding jacks, trills and other various arrow sets does. Increasing the bpm was good, but you also need to increase the arrow flow (professional songs should be 16th notes and up!)

Second: LAG. The timing was awful, there are programs available (ie stepmania) that will help you time your arrows more accurately, and the game itself lags on the higher up difficulties. I'd reccomend removing the ships that fly across the screen.

Third: Not user friendly. The user can't change the direction of arrow flow, speed, mods, etc. A very small portion of DDR/FFR/SM players actually play with the arrows scrolling down. The rest of us want to be able to flip it so we can see the arrows scrolling up :)

Fourth: Key mapping. Some poeple don't like to play three finger/one handed. A lot of people play spread (two hands, two keys for each hand. A common set up is vbnm)

My last issue is the "custom" mode. Being able to upload your own songs was a nice touch, but not being able to set my OWN arrows to the song pissed me off. I didn't want your game to randomly generate a crappy stepfile to my music.

What'd you expect? A cheap rip off with no tangential originality to make this its own game isn't going to score very well. You may as well have just copied and pasted FFR's code and prayed that you wouldn't get sued for copyright infringement. If you're going to copy somebody else's idea, do a DAMN GOOD JOB of it, or make it really original so the public isn't just comparing your game to something that's the same but much better.

Thanks for the ideas, Viwrinn.

Could use some work

I really think you could have done something more with this game. The notes were thrown together in an almost random order, and there was no real innovation with the timing. Sometimes things didn't even make sense, I was able to check my face book status, and watch a short you tube video while the first song was playing on normal mode. Also, you might want to add a key customization, as it was rather difficult to play the game with my fingers on one spot on my keyboard. Additionally, having white arrows inside of light colored bubbles can be quite difficult for the eyes to register. You may want to change that to make things easier for the player. Although being able to upload your own tracks was a good touch, I really don't think most people would go to that much trouble for a flash game. I am giving you this 5/10 because I can tell that effort has been put into the making of this game, but I really think more can be put into this to make it a truly good game instead of a "copy-paste" stepmania ripoff.

it was decent

for people with complaints about the arrows the arrows are like that for ddr stepmania and all the real games so the arrows are fine but what is enjoyable about ddr and stepmania is not the simoltaneous arrows but more the combos of arrows

Baisically shit.

The "notes" are just thrown together almost randomly, the up arrow and the down arrow are right next to each other so it's incredibly hard to tell what you're supposed to be pressing, at times i clearly hit the arrow right on the note and it didn't register it, while i hit it way above the note and it would register it.
