It's finally done. Phew! WARNING: IT WILL RUN CRAP IN INTERNET EXPLORER BECAUSE IT SUCKS!

Inspired by Mini Death Shooter, this flash game is the product of not finding enough decent fast Flash games on Newgrounds. So I decided to make my own. Anyone who's seen the games on my website knows that I'm bonkers.

The difference with this one is, I didn't use any of my music for the game, as I didn't have any that fitted the scenario. However, I did find some music that left me breathless just listening to it, so I used that. Oh well. I recommend that you sleect a lower diffficulty level because it really is very hard.

Please leave a review so I can improve on my next Flash game. Thanks, and good luck!

Nice one, but here would be some points:
Too much gradients
Too shortcut
Music has got lack of quality
Power-Ups woud be nice

Author's Response:

I prefer gradients over boring solid colours.
What do you mean, too shortcut?
I thought the music was alright. Perhaps I should have used my own music?
And powerups would defeat the object of a quick space shooter.

Like a retro game turbocharged. Nice for a quick shot of fun. Could use a high score table though.

Author's Response:

Indeed. Many people say it needs a high score table, however I'm not sure how to implement it.

"Fast fun"

This felt like a very traditional mini game shooter of sorts. Really great for some quick flash fun. The style was very retro and very arcade like.

You do know there are so many things that you could add to make it a mega game, but I kinda suspect that isn't really the point here. So I'm not going to go suggesting how many kinds of things you could implement into this because I don't feel that's really where this game is headed. Stick with the concept of just making a quick high score shooter. That's fine.

But if you're going to make scoring the main thing, it would be nice to implement some form of high score system. That would be more motivation to continue playing this longer. If there isn't going to be any development in the enemies or upgrades of any sort, then the only thing keeping me there is trying to get a high score. And if the only person I'm beating is myself, well that's just boring.

And also I think you don't really need an easy mode, rather you need to simply lighten up on the start. The first two seconds of the game are the hardest because you immediately start with a screen of enemies being hurled at you. Once you survive that, you slowly become adjusted to the speed and the spawn rate of the enemies. It's just that initial bit that freaks out. Maybe start with a blank screen and go with the same spawn rate and speed, just don't start with like 20 enemies already on screen and moving towards you.

Or if you're thinking on lightening up the difficulty, make the spawn rate slow at first and then gradually faster as time goes by. That would make it easier for people to adjust to the higher speeds in the future.

Good retro fun but definitely needs some tweaking and some scoring system for competitiveness.

Author's Response:

About the scoring system, I'm not sure how to implement it, but if I could add medals or special prizes for getting certain points, that would be pretty wicked.

Many people say that I should start with less enemies to start with. Maybe that'll be for Edgo 2 :P
