So I've got this friend who has a friend who knows a guy who works for Nintendo. And he gave me this super secret special footage of the original ending to Pokemon: the First Movie.

Realistic--at the time of the movie
Sure that is what would have happened but now pokemon can argue that "ashes aura powers without him realising it saved him by petrifying him instead, even then its more likely his head would explode not the rest of him mentle overload from physic attacks but who cares ya know?
