In other words Spewer is a game about puking.


Spewer is a puzzle platformer that uses liquid physics though regurgitation as its core mechanic. Taking the role of a mysterious test subject, code named Spewer, you must vomit your way through over 60 levels of stomach turning puzzles, learning new abilities, changing forms and piecing together your purpose in life.

Excellent Game

I thought to myself "Finally! A game that does liquid right"
Always wanted to play a game with proper water based physics.

Great job!

Great quality game! I won't try to write a review as deep as others before me.

Just writing to say I enjoyed it. The ending was cute, the graphics are good, the gameplay is great and original, the soundtrack and effects are fitting.

A great game and awesome fun to play, definitely on par with professionally made games. The only issue is the cloud power/white puke which was a bit of a pain to use as it is quite unpredictable. Other than that, great work, I especially liked creating my own levels. Reminiscent of Kirby, except in reverse.

Solid mechanics, progression, and challenge.

Spewer features solid play mechanics overall through the use of physics-influenced fluid which is used to manipulate buttons, momentum, and most uniquely using liquid volume.

The progression of the game is found throughout various chapters as you are introduced to new (and old) puzzle contraptions and aided in completion through alteration capsules. These colored companions provide a large challenge factor in cases where you must utilize several aspects of your forms in varying combination to complete the end puzzle.

There's only a single track of music, but due to the volume level and sectioned design, it doesn't become a monotonous buzz and actually can heighten the play experience in parts.

The main caveat of the game is it's resource performance rating. Partially due to flash being a dynamic language and the non-rasterized nature of the graphics, Spewer suffers even on higher end machines after some time. This could be the cause of many other factors as well, of course. I'm not sure about the physics step (or even overall) timing setting, but generally speaking 20-30ms should give you semi-fluid results while improving performance heavily. Again, I don't know to what extent the game already utilizes timed passes for each portion.

At any rate. Excellent work, Team Spewer.

P.S : Here's an extra level for some hardcore challenge to those who have mastered single dot jumps, gap hopping, repeater-jumps, and a few other intended (and unintended) gameplay techniques. Be warned that the level will be quite difficult in nature if you haven't at least cleared the standard game's levels.

Due to the timing natures on various machines, I've raised the amount of spew you start with as well as removed the need for jump grabs (swallowing all spew while jumping from it). Majority of the map involves planning your actions ahead of time, although there are meticulous backtracking portions in some areas. Victory is wholly possible and tested several times. (albeit frustrating as hell!)
