Excellent game and difficult as well. Took me 3 tries to beat the epic mode. The main gripe is that there are no save points so it gets a little frustrating doing everything over and over again.
This game is absolutely exceptional. It possesses a timeless quality that makes it playable and enjoyable to both old and new gamers alike, and it offers time based gameplay, with the game going fairly fast on normal, ( fast for me, but I'm also an FF freak) slower on hard, and painstakingly slow on epic. ( Which is what I played on last) The music selections of the game are all quite appreciable and match up quite well with the maps you paired them with, so kudos for that, and though there is less selection in enemy types here then there are in the later games, (Which I have played both of) for the first game in the series, this game offers much versatility in enemies and battle types. I didn't find any bugs anywhere, so this is an obvious plus, and I certainly enjoyed the final battle with Goku, who was a very nice touch. The only problems I really found were that there was no mute button for music/sound effects, but I can't complain about that to much because you fixed that problem in EBF3, the lack of a real storyline or story progression(Also fixed in later games), and the killer: The lack of a a save function. Not that big of a deal if your playing on normal(You really shouldn't die on normal anyways, but...) but if you're playing on Epic and you just got to Goku and had no time to heal yourself, it's kind of a downer when you do a faceplant and have to spend another 1-2 hours getting back there. This problem was fixed in EBF3( And I think EBF2 but I can't remember) but it really, really causes some annoyance here. Perhaps just checkpoints or a save at the shop halfway through the game? That was the only real problem I had with the entire game. Other than that, the game is an absolute classic. Despite lacking on replay value, it still entertained me for hours trying to get all the medals, and I strongly, strongly recommend that everyone try it out at the very least. Just plain boring and repetitive. Games like these need a story.
