Here is the Newgrounds Flash version of "A Bid for Freedom".

It is a story that I wrote and converted into a small fable with images provided by the talented Nacho Rodriguez (who created Mr. Coo and won the #1 slot in Cold Hard Flash's Best Animated) and lush watercolours by his girlfriend Cecilia Deshayes.
It is an illustrated storybook, narrated for your pleasure by the debonair Andy Dennis, with guest turns by Sasuya and Josh "Tomamoto" Tomar you HAVE to hear!
The Storybook route was pursued so it could enter ReNaeNae's excellent Storybook Collab;
http://www.newgrounds.com /bbs/topic/1003968 Talents in writing, art, voice, sound, code etc. should give it a look!

To turn the pages, hover your mouse pointer over the bottom corner of the page, then left-click and drag the page across with your mouse until it fully flips over.
Narration starts on each page as you view it, but you're free to read at your own pace (you can right-click and select "Zoom In", then drag around to see all the fine details).

This story is NOT an attempt at hair-pin-bend trigger-happy balls-to-the-wall FBF hentai-maniac game-parodying shenanigannary. NO REALLY, IT'S NOT!
The power here is in the words and the pictures.
There is COMEDY, ACTION, DRAMA and ROMANCE, all skewed at odd angles.
There's fantasy, exotic locations, body odour, and even a fast car if you stick with it!
Have patience, we've many things to offer you. Stick with us. We're a good group.

Please vote and review showing respect to the combined talent and hard work involved in this Flash. A lot of passion went into this just for you guys, so be fair.
Critique, constructive criticism, suggestions, these are things we graciously accept.
If you vote or review abusively, you let Newgrounds down. Don't.
If this is "not your sort of thing" or you're somehow disappointed by the lack of animation, this is not the fault of anyone involved; no-one's forcing you to watch!

With all this in mind, we hope you enjoy (with your drink or snack of choice) our hard work, vote and review responsibly... and may your day be brighter.

==================

This section is for the creative people out there:

This has been a hot coal in my hands for quite some time, burning with collective passion, yet I've been reluctant to throw it into the fire.
Enough people are happy with the results as they stand for me to go forth and submit it.
Trust that this will blossom over time as we come back to better adorn this work.

My preliminary thanks are on this page:

I additionally thank DrNeroCF for saving us in the coding department and Deathcon for further help; Joey Young (http://joeymofo.newgroun ds.com) for providing sound effects at short notice and the Very Odd House (http://www.theveryoddhou se.com/) for a small snippet of lush score; and to Josh Tomar, introduced late into the project yet he delivered an outstanding performance within minutes of me asking him.
Further thanks go to the Newgrounds Team for their support of this work, and to all Newgrounds users who do the same (including Mr GUS, who is highly underrated: be sure to see his latest http://www.newgrounds.com /portal/view/483436 and vote for it in this year's Treasure Hunt).
Any other great participants that come to light will be remembered here equally.

Cheers!

Amazing Read Review

most won't take the time to listen to a book. But i did and i'm glad i did. This story was very interesting and portrayed a great story with a moral at the end. Artwork and drawings of the people and background were great and the story itself was easy to follow. i really liked this keep up the good work.

Also that sucks for the hero after all he did the girl with bad breath left him oh well

Thank you very much for taking the time to check out and appreciate our work!
Although I would have initially agreed that most people perhaps wouldn't be taken in by an online book, it's been remarkable just how many people have responded well to this project! I think the trick's in the presentation as much as anything; time should always be well invested, and if viewers can see a book that looks, sounds and unfolds with care and high quality, then they'll be more willing to give the story a chance!
I'm glad this appealed to your sensibilities, and I only hope that at the very least I'll achieve similar success with future works!
Cheers for your support!
P.S. I think the lead guy's experiences in this adventure will only push him on to greater things... and maybe well-earned triumphs, if he's lucky...

Simply amazing!

This is a great work of art. The story was very charming and humorous, the artwork was beautiful, and the voice actors and sound-effects were perfect! I also love the story book concept, and though the need to turn the pages seemed annoying at first, it actually made the story much more interesting as it progressed. I wish it were possible to give this a higher rating! Great job! :D

Aaah, thank you so much, I'm really glad you enjoyed it! I know what you mean about the page-turning system; it was the best we could do this time around but we may find a way to make it even easier next time around! Still, I'm glad you got the hang of it; I think it adds in along with all our own hard work to make the story more involving!
Cheers for your review and your support! It'll be excellent if you return in the near future to check out our new projects!
(Oh and I checked out your profile; love the dog! Also, here's hoping you can move to A State of Platinum Success sometime soon!) :D

Ingenious idea!

I'm not so used to fancy language such as this animation presents but I truly enjoyed turning pages and seeing how the story was slowly building up in the most imaginative way. Voice actors did outstanding job especially that girl who was dressed in blue dolphin's tears dress. Hilarious, unique and most of all artistically combined. This charming storybook has left me overall impressed because it's done with the great talent.

Aah, I'm really glad you liked it, and thank you so much for your support of our efforts!
I'm very proud of what our VAs achieved here; the Lead Lady is played by the wonderful up-and-coming Sasuya, who's since gone on to make a fantastic turn in the "Jerry" series finale produced by ABFF fan HotDiggedyDemon... if you liked her work here, it's worth checking out the original "Jerry" to put things in context, followed by "Jerry: The End" to witness her latest performance.
It's great you enjoy this approach to storytelling; hopefully the Storybook Project will go on to inspire more great books like this one. While I see our own projects diversifying into many different styles, we'll try our very best to create original quality entertainment for your viewing pleasure in the near future!

Truly a piece of art.

This sir, is by far the best animation piece I have seen yet on this site. The entire approach was splendid by far. I truly could prattle on and on about this animation. However, I will simply leave you with a 10/10. If there a higher rating to give I would give it.

Haha, thank you very much for enjoying and supporting our work! I'm really glad it struck such a chord with you, and I wouldn't have minded if you prattled on 'til the cattle came home, but in the meantime I'll work on producing new improved projects that'll give you even more to talk about!

Cheers!
