I made this for an HP Lovecraft class as my final. My teacher has a strange sense of humor so I'm guessing I'll get a decent grade.
UPDATE: I got an A on this flash!

I decided to stay up working on this through 4:30 in the morning. I realized it was a little short, so in a sleep deprived, caffeine fueled stupor, I created an extended ending.
Lots of HP Lovecraft references if you keep your eyes peeled. The three of you who searched for "Cthulhu" and found this may or may not be entertained.

Anyway, hope you guys like this. My good computer is still dead, so I made this with Flash 8 on a computer optimized for Windows 2000. Yes it's that old.
UPDATE: Good computer is back!

My friend TheL1st made the sexier backgrounds, and Xander1062 made the squiddly Cthulhu noises.
Hope you guys like it, I'll probably find it less funny in the morning.

Check out my other cartoons for something good.

EDIT: Fixed some issues, so now you can see what Dagon is saying the second time. Flash is wicked glitchy so I did the best I could.

2nd EDIT: Wow! Front page? Thanks!

I respond to all reviews.
Also, if it's not playing, right click and press play. Don't give me a zero without at least giving a little effort to see the movie!

i give things 10s

After seeing the "narwhals" video by TheWeebl, I had to check this one out.

It was short, yes, but I enjoyed it. The Cthulhu sounds were excellent.

Well done? You could definitely make this longer if you worked on it for fun.

Battosai810 responds:

First off, I love "Narwhals" too, so it makes me pretty happy that someone could catch that half second long Cthulhu reference.

Glad you liked the flash - what I told my audio guy for the sounds was "wet and squiddy" - Xander's a creative guy, so check out his music sometime.

I think I might do another flash at some point using Cthulhu. Glad you liked this one!

Cheeky.

A little tongue in cheek humor based off of HP Lovecraft? How can you go wrong my friend? haha I found this to be fairly humorous, I've always had a fascination with Cthulhu and I'm a bit of a fan of Lovecraft, so it might be the fanboy speaking, but the animation wasn't bad, it was kind of cute, and gave it that light hearted feel and the captions made him seem like a guy just living out his life. In a Cthulhu sort of way lol. All in all, I liked it, and it'd be great to see you make another.

Wasn't actually expecting for anyone on Newgrounds to have really heard of Lovecraft or Cthulhu, so your review is a pleasant surprise!

Good to know you liked the cute style of the whole thing. The humor really rested on everything being sort of cute and goofy looking. and I wasn't sure everyone would quite "get" it.

Glad you liked it, and I just might have to make another at some point!

Not bad at all dude

Interesting character, fairly decent characters & animation, the movements were quite fluid, giving Cthulhu a much more life-like appearance. The music background when they took was quite sublime - what song did you use? I've heard it before but can't for the life of me remember. Anyway, the conversations were mildly amusing as well.

Other than that, I really liked how the story was progressing. Depicting Cthulthu as your mild mannered average Joe getting on with his life...scarying the crap outta humans. Quite amusing what you have so far. Any chance you could continue the story, even turn it into a series? I see a lot of potential so far and it'd be a shame to cut it so short.

Battosai810 responds:

Thanks for the props on Cthulhu himself - I actually put in a good deal of time making the tentacles move independently of each other, and a lot of time getting a good shading on him.

What song were you asking about? The music when Cthulhu emerges was "Pruit Igoe & Prophecies" by the Philip Glass Orchestra. You may have heard it if you saw the film adaptation of Watchmen. The music at the end was the Star Trek theme from the 60's.

You know, a series doesn't sound too bad. I really like what I did making Cthulhu, and it would be a shame not to use such a detailed character again. I'll be sure to keep it in mind, or at least incorporate him into some other works.

Thanks for the great review! Marked as helpful :)
