Origionally proposed as a small game to keep my little brother ammused while i babysat him resulted in me uploading it to the tinterweb.

The Adventures of Moby (The Collector) will be the first in a line of platform games to demonstrate how random mine and my brothers mind is. The aim of the game is to collect all of the items dotted around the map in order to exit through a door. The items i have chosen to collect were the first things that came into my head while building this game (E.G. Baked Beans, Haddock in a recycle basket).

When it came to the task of designing this game i called across to my little 4 year old brother, who happily drew me a few character designs. I then scanned them into my laptop and animated them in flash. The soundtrack that you hear looping throughout the game is created on sibelius 4 by moi, but don't let it annoy you when it loops constantly.

The Adventures of moby is a light hearted family game with no element of death or violence involved. Although there is talk of introducing enemies in the sequel, and giving a weapon to Moby, this will only consist of a water/bubble gun.

As a friend once told me, "sometimes simplicity is best".

THANKS FOR ALL YOUR ADVICE. A SEQUEL IS CURRENTLY IN DEVELOPMENT

Oddly Enjoyable

For some sadistic reason I found this quite entertaining. By far my favourite pebble, spork and haddock bin collecting game.
I liked the character art style, like the others have said; a consistant art style would be much more effective.

Not bad

Its a pretty decent platformer and at the most playable. But a few things you need to work on next time is to make the platforms more solid(most of the time i was half way in or halfway out) . Also try to make a little more complex.

it's good

the animation..or programming...i'm not sure, but it's off. I would jump on a platform and one time I would be on the top of the rectangle, the the next one I would be on the bottom on the rectangle. So on the next one you will need to fix that.
and the background design is different from the character design, so if you were to make the background a little more like scribbles then it would go together nicely.

Also if you wanted to make this even better. Maybe you could add more levels and different songs. It would give the game more life....if that's the word I'm looking for...

but other than those things, I think it was a good game. very nice

I thank you greatly for your advice, and i am currently working into the floating/sinking problem. This has happened in the prototypes also, so i think a new physics system is needed. The reason the character falls through the floor or floats above it is down to the height you have fallen from. The more weight/speed added to the character the further he will fall.
Once again i thank you for your advice and if you know anyone (or yourself) who can help me solve this minor problem please let me know.

This isn't good

My biggest issue was the difference in artistic styles between the platforms and the character. If you could redraw the level to be entirely scribbled/background, it might come together better.

well

this was entertaining enough that i actually played through it all.

it was actually a good game, but i think in could be better by adding sound effects when you pick up items, like picking up a firework would make the sound of a firework shooting off.

Also his walking animation was too slow for the speed he walked, maybe you could make his animation a bit faster.
