This is a Classic style pong game. There are 6 levels. Start at level 1, get 6 points, and move onto the next level of difficulty.

This is a simple flash That took a couple hours to make. Please enjoy. The last level is a lot of fun.

Edit: The Game Over screen will now reset the scores so that you can successfully replay.
Edit: The typo of congratulations has been fixed, and the level select at the end of this game has been corrected.
Edit: You now have more control over the blip by hitting it with certain parts of your paddle.
Edit: There is now music playing in the background while you play the game.

please comment if you discover any more bugs.

"Nostalgia wins, repetition does not."

The "Pong" system was the very first game machine I got, and despite the fact that it was cool back in those pre-Nintendo days, the fact is that Pong is an insanely boring game. I'm giving you points mainly because you did such a good job of mimicking the feel of the original, but the submission itself is kinda boring. Some suggestions and things the original had that you don't.

1. Music was mentioned. Perhaps something with a techno feel? At the very least, sound effects.
2. Crank up the speed a bit, add some color. The original wasn't black & white, unless the game machine was a really bad variant on some PC game.
3. Be creative. You can make a Pong-style game and keep nostalgia intact without the need to replicate Pong. You did a great job on your other submission (Chrono Trigger Quest) and there's no reason you can't do something a little more interesting here. Know what I'm saying?

Author's Response:

I agree music would be nice I'm going to work on that later. I'm about to publish an update that will allow you to control the blips direction with your paddle. I'll see about color, though as I mentioned before (i believe) this was originally just a test of my raw AS 2.0 knowledge. I'll add some techno music with my following next update.

Author's Response:

thank you. When I was testing it I thought to myself "this really needs a little sound to make it perfect. I was considering putting music in it, but decided to wait on it.

"another one?!"

date: March 28, 2009

when will they stop?! well, besides moving really slow, it did look and play nice.
but when will they stop making these?!

March 28, 2009

Author's Response:

unless you computer can't run it at 24 fps. it shouldn't be too slow. also, it really starts to pick up around level 3.

Also, people make them because it's a great way to test your raw knowledge of actionscript.

"A faithful remake!"

date: March 28, 2009

This feels just like as it did on the Atari. Terrific work!

Author's Response:

Thank you for the 10. I was going for true blue classic pong. I hope to improve on my code later so that it might become more challenging for the player, as well as entertaining.
