Mario plays as Dante and Toad plays as Virgil in this fun-filled tour of the monster-filled circles of Hell!

This time, my use of Mario characters isn't entirely my fault.

BlueEyedSweeTie needed a school project done about Dante's Inferno, so she gave me part of a script to work with for me to make a Mario Flash movie for her, since she thought I would use sprites. She also thought the movie wouldn't have sound. Instead, I exceeded her expectations by voicing nearly the entire movie myself, making some short tunes in Finale Notepad, and drawing everything with the mouse. The result of a quick school project is the movie page you see now. The movie itself is about 3 and a half minutes, and I don't remember how long the credits are.

Anyway, enjoy!

[EDIT 03-14-09]: Shoot, I think I might could have gotten a Daily Feature if I had submitted this just thirty minutes earlier than I had. Ah well. Fourth's not bad. =P
[EDIT 03-18-09]: I signed on today and noticed my movie had made it to the frontpage, which I honestly hadn't expected. Many thanks to who put it there!
[EDIT 03-20-09]: By the way, there's not going to be a sequel.

cool

i thought it was pretty entertaining i have to admit...
but unlike everyone else...
i dont belive i laughed or smirked once...

now i haven't seen dante's inferno so i don't know if this was your mistake or theirs

but what you called Cerberus was actually a hydra...
Cerberus is a dog not a lizard/ dragon thing...

other wise...
like previously mentioned...
i did enjoy it...

good job :D

Good stuff

I think you're being seriously underrated here man. I have read the entire Divine Comedy, and this had me in stitches. Also, point of order GheyDawg, Dante was from Florence about the time of the Renaissance, not Greece.

It was good, but not much more to say, good or bad.

Pah-Ritty Good, But...

JonBro, can you and I have a serious word for a second?

Okay, your animation ability is fine and I personally like your spriting. Thus, you're one of those flash-makers in Newgrounds that I can expect decent work from. And this one? It's cool and all. I never read the book, though I'm told it's rather good (and the ones that followed were not so great).

Now, I'm not objecting to the animation, the context, or - in fact - the acting. However...I really found Toad's voice (and Mario's) to be a little scratchy and irritating. Nothin' wrong with everyone else's. Just that.

JonBro responds:

As I've mentioned, high-pitch Mario-imitation voices are not my forte...

JonBro responds:

I don't know why you think that's funny but I laughed reading this review.
