Hey Newgrounds! This is my first flash game and first submission here - it's been on Kongregate for the last week.
Don't Look Back is a game about fantasy. Just to warn you, it can be quite tricky in places... I hope you enjoy it!
Let me start out by saying this is the first game in a long time that I have played on Newgrounds, or any other site for that matter with true imagination.
The simplistic style and eerie music really set the mood.
Here's my idea of a score breakdown:
Level Design: 10
*I only gave sound a lower score because you could easily pick out the looping, try to work on that and you'll have an unbeatable score!
In conclusion, hope that you continue your game making, who knows, you could even be a professional!
Thanx for the great game :) !!!!!!!!!
oh! i know this story
this was the story of the greek music player, and after all this he loses his wife and only plays sad music...sux that u have to look back to fight cerberus, otherwise i could have changed the course of the story ><
it was mythtastic!
The game used mythology and it was amazing. The uasage of mythology gave the game a good story. Also the pixels got the job done BIG TIME OH YEAH! In short the game was awesome.
This game was brilliant. It had a plot line that I couldn't have loved more. Is it perhaps a game following the devils one must face after losing a loved one until they can find peace or is this game a rendition of Orpheus's descent into Hades?
The one in which after this death of his wife, he plays the music to soften the hearts of Persephone and Hades and they allow him to bring his wife back to the upper world, on one condition. He was to walk in front of her, and never to lock back until they reached the upper world.
Either way the plot is still beyond words, and I really enjoyed it. Onto things like music and graphics i felt they fit well into the theme of things. They both set the mood, and it goes to show that one doesn't need extremely detailed graphics or a complex soundtrack to impress an audience.
The only thing that almost got me to dock a point off was my petty frustration in playing the game. I think I played some parts five times over. Overall, great work.
I shouldn't have to...
Stop moving to jump, that made so many of the sections a pain in the ass
plus, I got tired of having to hear that damn girl again if I accidentally went a little too far past a vine...that's not challenging, that's a pain in the ass.
starts at 7/10
-1 for the things mentioned above
but +2 for this being quite an impressively stylish first submission
and +2 for the ending I actually didn't see coming...
so 10/10...no harm, no foul.
