After doing all these lil games, I figured why not parody my own stuff and this is what came out. Ended up going with the old 8bit-ish type graphics for performance, ease to make and if it works for Mega Man 9, then why not here ^_^

Before diving into all the stuff that's crammed into this lil' test run, please please please read the instructions. The link opens a new window so popup blockers may get in the way. The game is intended to be very fast and very aggressive with just as much in common with a twitch shooter game as a traditional Mega Man one.

This has the complete first stage and Dr Light's lab (stage select screen is just to show the robot masters) in it as well as:
>> All the special weapons from Mega Man 1, Mega Man 2, Mega Man 3, Mega Man 4, Mega Man 5, Mega Man 6, Mega Man 7, Mega Man 8 (except that soccer ball >.>), Stardroids, Extra Gameboy weapons, Mega Man and Bass and 20 new weapons for the bosses of this game.
>> 3 buster types (Mega Buster, Dark Buster and Lion Buster)
>> Rush, Beat, Tango are all available from the pause menu to help you out. You can also do a fusion move with each one to give up some firepower in exchange for mobility.
>> Rush Jet and Rush Marine sections.
>> 18 different talents to spec the smurf many different ways (World of Megacraft?)

Since this is just a test run, you already have all the weapons, busters, pets, armors and are Level 20. Inside of Dr Light's lab is a place you can go to level up and spend your talent points (Press Up to interact with it, hard to miss it once you see it). All odds are there may be a bug or two here and there, and with over 100 weapons there's bound to be a few that need some balancing.

It's also probably quite hard for most, so to try and help I gave a link to a video showing the playthrough of it. Won't be a cakewalk for sure if you have slow reflexes as anyone who played my other games can probably attest.

Anyhow, have fun, blow stuff up, yadda yadda. Full game will probably be out in a year or so.

"Awesome! Can't wait for the full version!"

I see you had to rename Tornado Man to Sandstorm Man since Mega Man 9 came out with a Tornado Man

Author's Response:

Yeah, I sorta felt it would lead to less confusion since heavens know I'm already going to have a ton of flaming about the difficulty, speed and dozens of other things.

megaman x next was my favorite flash game, and it took you 2 years after you made roll next to reel back into megaman again, i beat next on the highest difficulty, and it was the most enjoyable experience, now finally i get to see another one of your works and so far its as hard as ever, i cant wait until the full version of this comes out.

Author's Response:

Sorry it takes so long on these things, work's been getting increasingly brutal :( But if ya liked the others then if I can pull this one off I'm sure it'll top the list.

I've been a fan of your games since the Intro to MXN, and you never disappoint. I eagerly await the full version of this. I don't know if it's the breakneck speeds at which you have to think and react or the fact that if you can't move precisely you're screwed, but these games always make the MegaMan fanboy in me squeal like a piggy, and not in the awful Deliverance way. I tried reading the instructions, but for some reason your website seems to have disappeared. What's up with that?

Author's Response:

Glad my hard work pays off lol. The website thing is a different story. The long and short of it is HostOnce sucks and I had to get a new domain name, which is 'legacymaelstormm' instead of 'maelstormm' .com

This is awesome even for a test. But, why didn't you put weapons from MM9?

July 13, 2009

Author's Response:

The lil fan comic this is based on goes up to MM8 before the plotlines change. The Cataclysm happens before 9 has a chance to happen.

pretty much the best megaman game i've played on newgrounds even for a test, the only problem is megaman goes too fast when walking n' stuff

Author's Response:

Well, when all's said and done, he's probably gonna be even faster as the engine gets more and more fine tuned. I'll then blame it on all the caffeine tanks Auto's been selling.
