You can't remember the last time you left your room. When you receive a barcode reader in the mail, you discover that the world around you is not what it seems, and must escape the bars of black and white.

"Bars of Black and White" is a game in the room-escape tradition with hand-drawn line art graphics and novel barcode-scanning action. Is the world insane, or is it you?

Very nice game; it's a simple concept with basic line drawings, yet despite that I seemed to be immersed!

Reminds me of Silent Hill: The Room. I really liked this game because it taps into your psychological instability, "what am I worth," "am I just a pawn in this world," stuff like that. Interesting way to incorporate something we see every day - barcodes - and making it a way to proceed through the game. It is quite intuitive and requires a minute amount of thinking to advance. Has a very creepy feel to it - especially the zebra drawing. I had to look up a walkthrough to get the triangle puzzle in the spider room, because I was impatient. But that's just me being a troll and trying to cheat. I really wish the game was longer, and perhaps a bit more challenging. Other than that, though, probably the most intriguing game I have played so far on Newgrounds. Of course except for the Torture Game. ;) 5/5, finished in about 600 seconds, found all le barcodes.
