Hey folks,
This movie was created using an ancient program called "SwIsH" and is based on the two main characters of CastleVania SOTN (PSX Version) in a semi-canonical story, mostly focussing on an over elaborate sprite fight as opposed to actual story telling.
It remains my FIRST and ONLY ever flash movie - When I started out with it, I was using it simply as a means to learn Flash (I always wanted to make a flash) and once I started I simply couldn't stop until I finally sat back and noticed I made a several minute long battle between Alucard & Ricther all over Castlevania.
I hope fans of the game enjoy this flash - It's definately not perfect but I'm still very proud.
Thank you to any and all people who have lended this movie support over the years, it did much better than I could ever have dreamed of - Also thanks to any other people passing by who lend comments & reviews.

Confucius say...
I know life and interest can get in the way of wanting to work on a selfless (outside of your own self-fulfillment, of course) project, but you've got real talent with this! Also, the ending of this flash provides the purest expansion into a sequel, and the storyline possibilities are endless: Does Alucard die? Do the servants of Hell recognize who Alucard is and choose to help instead of hurt him? Does Dracula resurrect? It would be a SHAME not to continue this series. P.S. I tend to root for the bad guy in these cases, but who really IS the bad guy in this case? *wink* *wink* You've got series potential here! And remember, Confucius say... He who do hard flash project movie get easier job each time he do it...
When I first made this I didn't want it to be just a re-enactment of what we had all seen in the game, but something more than that - I guess I did achieve it to some level but to continue on would take me a lot of drive.
I don't deny it'll most likely happen and I'll make a sequel, just that it may take some time to sit down and go for it ^^

Ahh, fresh, locally-grown nostalgia...
In general, I like sprite movies more the less they break with the established mechanics of the original game. So the swordplay and whip-play was perfect, grabbing Richter was great, throwing the shield, less-so. Though, I suppose SOTN makes liberal use of rotation so it's not *too* jarring. Overall I was impressed with some of the special effects here. You really nailed the blood, holy water, and statue break-out, I felt like.
In terms of scripting and staging, it was a great success. You used the limited (and somewhat questionable) sound bytes from the original game to fairly decent effect. In any case, it felt slightly less forced than it sounds when you're playing the game. It's those pauses for player input, I think. They really do break the flow.
I thought the choreography was pretty good, actually, the one exception being Richter's knife attack when it hits Alucard. That and I might have made him crouch while riding the chunk of masonry down into the pit below, because then you could have made his cape pillow in the wind. :)
But yeah, most of the choreography actually made me think this is the way the characters from the game would fight. I liked the close-up combat the best, because without any cheap tricks like rotating the characters unnaturally, you managed to make it look like a real close-up rapid-fire kung-fu fest.
Granted, it wasn't the single most awesome sprite combat sequence I've ever seen on Newgrounds, no, but it did manage to avoid a lot of the really stupid cheap hacks (vector blood, constant character rotation for no reason, general fake-ness,) that ruin 90% of sprite movies for me.
So yeah. Good effort, good production values, reasonably like the game to fulfill nostalgia purposes without breaking the fourth wall too often, yet decently more involved and integrated than actual video game footage. Overall, nice work, and if we are indeed at the forefront of another sprite movement, I look forward to seeing more works at least this good.
Now THATS a well constructed review, one I really appreciate - Thank you very much for the depth and points - Really glad you liked it :)

Great Work
Awesome fighting and speed and it does not fuck with the story b/c they actually did fight. This is my favorite Castlevania and if the actual fight was anywhere this badass it would have been my favorite game. Great work.
Glad to see another CVania fan isn't displeased with the animation - Thanks for the review.

Brilliant
I absolutely loved it, the coregraphy was awesome, the effects, the voice, the sprite animation all incredible, and i'd appreciate it if you'd message me back on where to find the program you used for it, i've been wanting to make a sprite movie for quite some time i just haven't been able to find a good flash program

Thank you ^^
The program is simply called 'Swish' however the one I have is the extreme oldest (Simply called Swish). There's plenty of newer versions (Swish This, Swish that, Swish professional etc etc, typical names but any search for Swish will lead you on the right path - It's not free, however).
It's similar to Macromedia in many ways, though not enough to be able to cross from one to the other straight away. I tried Macromedia and got completely stumped, guess I got too used to Swish - But as someone above said, doesn't matter what you use if you can make it work - And apparantly I made it work, so I'll stick with it :)
