Hi everyone,

Welcome to Rhapsody of Ruin, a semi-canonical story based on the two main characters of CastleVania SOTN (PSX Version), mostly focusing on an over elaborate sprite fight as opposed to actual story telling.

I hope fans of the game enjoy this flash - It's definitely not perfect but I'm still very proud.

Thank you to any and all people who have lent this movie support over the years, it did much better than I could ever have dreamed of!

Pure epic win

Are you sure this is your first time to make a flash movie? This ranks up there with even the most seasoned vets of this site. Great work and please continue to make more flash. In my opinion I would never be able to decide the winner so I would have multiple endings with maybe an easter egg ending of your choice that would have somebody else jump in and win, Simon Belmont, just a thought.

RopeDrink responds:

Thats how I initially intended to have this end, with many selectable endings and a hidden, but I ran out of time and patience near the end - If I had gone that way, then there wouldn't really have been any opening for a sequel so it's good & bad in a way.

Oh well, thanks for the review ^^

Great great great

Been quite a while since I last saw a sprite movie that was worth the watch. Thanks for making it.

And if you continue this, Alucard needs to win. He's just so much cooler.

RopeDrink responds:

Thank you.
There's reason for either to win - I do like both characters and will animate things as fair as I can, but the one thing I decided with this is I have to have a winner, not a stalemate, not some fancy ranting about magic and some rubbish doing this and that making one of them not so and so... One will win.

And I've yet to figure it all out >.<

Epicly Awesome

This movie is the culmination of both. Thanks for the entertainment, but please please please don't keep us waiting for the continuation!

RopeDrink responds:

Well I'll try, if I make one.
Thing with this is it took me longer to sort the sprites and effects out, and what I was going to do with the fight, than it did to actually animated it.

Once I get some compiled sprites I'll hopefully make a sequel ^^

ZOM Feckin' G!

THAT... WAS... AWESOME!

I habe played SOTN for 9 years now, and it never got boring. I see this, and wish there was a fight like this somewhere in the game (besides the Richter Boss Battle!)

RopeDrink responds:

Glad you enjoyed it, SOTN is still a classic to me, especially when I first played it, so animating a battle for it was a nice experience ;)

Astounding

I'm one of those guys that has played through SotN countless times and taken the time to try and obtain one of damn-near everything. Never got boring, never once. And this, this is just as much fun as the game, except my thumbs rest on the desk and get to relax while I enjoy the fine work you present! Can't wait to see a sequel!

RopeDrink responds:

Glad you like it, thank you ^^
Nice to see more SOTN fans have actually seen that this is up here!
