Hi everyone. This is my first-ever completed film, made for Newgrounds' Christmas 2008 collection.

It is about a young boy who dreams of journeying in Santa's sleigh on Christmas Eve.

This might be a little soft-toned for Newgrounds, but I hope that some of you will appreciate it anyway. It took me about a year of intermittent work.

Some of the scenes are quite dark, so it is best viewed in dim or no light. Oh, and you probably need a fast computer for it to play smoothly...

Happy holidays!

Lovely.

That was beautiful. The way your art was done reminds me of a museum. It was like silent poetry, I enjoyed it very much. It didn't need to be long to be very enjoyable.

Esn responds:

Thank you Shauna. Though I think "wordless poetry" would be a better description; the music is quite important. :)

Unmatched!

This is.. by far, the best artwork in a flash I've ever seen!
Very calm as well, no crude humor or anything, just a nice & short flash!
How could I not give this a 5\5 and a 10\10?

Esn responds:

Thank you!

Excellent.

Truly superb work of art. The animation was fairly smooth, the drawing was beautiful, and the overall theme was brilliant. 5/5, 10/10. Keep it up.

Esn responds:

The first part is in the description: "It is about a young boy who dreams of journeying in Santa's sleigh on Christmas Eve."

Then:
As he's marveling at the sights (in his dream), Santa's hat is blown off by the wind and lands near him. So the boy turns around to give it back to Santa and gets a good look at him for the first time, only to see Santa's beard also blown off by the wind, and Santa revealed to be a lifeless straw scarecrow with button eyes. At this point, the dream turns into a nightmare and the reindeer fly off, leaving the sleigh to fall to the ground. Then (back in the real world), a shadow falls over the sleeping boy, a hand with a Santa-like sleeve pulls up his blanket, gently pats his hair, and then leaves. The boy wakes up and sits up, only to see a departing shadow at his door. The cat on the couch turns its ears at the sound of footsteps, but doesn't open its eyes. Then we see the presents left under the tree, and the hand that may belong to Santa takes a cookie from the table that was left for him.

Hope that helped.
