Touch the purple skears and avoid the red ones.

If you like this, be sure to play Skears 2 (v0.36) which has over 30 levels and the Mini Skears games, which are much shorter, but have a scoring system and bonus levels.

"A bit the same."

One would think when you make a sequal that you make it a lot better. Sure in this submission there was more levels, but the spelling was still bad, there was no custimization and the graphics still were quite crude, not what you would call much of an improvement. Meh.

Author's Response:

Check the submission dates.

Given that there's 5-times the number of levels and the addition of red skears, I'm astonished that anyone would rate this lower than the original. Given that nothing became worse, it seems to me that this is clearly better.

"Great!"

Lotso improvements in this one, heh, tons of more levels to chose from. The graphics are the same though, it would be nice with a change of interface now and then too. Otherwise it's all great, keep up the good work!

"Very original"

date: June 17, 2006

Oeiginal, to say the least. It didn't make much sense, and the broken english made the directions hard to understand. Was interactive, very interactive. There was no violence (like it was needed), there are already enough violent games on newgrounds. the animation was pretty basic, though, and it wasn't funny. Was very random, though, which might appeal to some people. if you decide to make another, try to make it have better graphics, and maybe add some sound to it as well. Oh, and stop with the broken english crap. That just makes it harder to understand, and it isn't funny at all, as you may think. it's just plain stupid.

Author's Response:

Broken english was basically to take the piss out of a lecturer.

Play Skears DX. I think you'll prefer that.

Cheers for the review. Stated your thourhgts pretty clearly. Could've maybe broken up your review with new lines though. Also, I come away not sure what you like so much that you gave it a 7. You should've explicitly maybe mentioned what you see as positive aspects.

I give the review a 7.

"A lot harder!!!"

date: January 26, 2006

I'm still not understanding why you used broken english in the instructions and what not, though... crappeh-spaek wasn't cool in '02, nor is it now, XD haha.
The graphics, presentation, and audio pretty much stayed the same in this game, and I thought you were really taking the easy route out in this one when I found the first 2 levels to be the same as they were in the first 'rol-ovir' game... but this had far more stages, and the last proved to be extremely difficult! It had many twists that hit you as soon as you thought you'd gotten over the last test of skill... I personally couldn't finish in time before 'the end' shrank and sweeped into the center of screen... so good work with the gameplay in this version, a definate improvement.

Author's Response:

: A lot harder!!!

+++: good summary

: Overall rating: 5

fair enough.

: I'm still not understanding why you used broken english in the instructions and what not, though... crappeh-spaek wasn't cool in '02, nor is it now, XD haha.

++++: Good point raised. I like the humour you use to describe the shittiness.

: The graphics, presentation, and audio pretty much stayed the same in this game,

+++: True and fairly concise. You implicitly condemn them, given your previous review.

: and I thought you were really taking the easy route out in this one when I found the first 2 levels to be the same as they were in the first 'rol-ovir' game...

++: A nice insight into your experience and thought process.

: but this had far more stages, and the last proved to be extremely difficult! It had many twists that hit you as soon as you thought you'd gotten over the last test of skill...

++++: You describe well your observations and feelings.

: I personally couldn't finish in time before 'the end' shrank and sweeped into the center of screen...

++++: nice to hear of play-experience.

: so

---: Here, I'm not sure if you're using 'so' as a breaking point (i.e. preclude your summary) or if you're using it to point out a direct correlation between your inability to complete 'the end' and the fact that you consider my work done on the gameplay 'good'. I blame my confusion partially on you and your sentence/paragraph structure.

: good work with the gameplay in this version, a definate improvement.

++++: Nice summary.

: Graphics: 2 Sound: 0 Interactivity: 5 Style: 7 Violence: 0 Humor: 0

All seem fair enough and are mirror your review.

Overall, it was a quality review, with a few criticisms, some referred to from another review, and a few compliments and overall positive feeling. You gave insights into your play-experience too.

Great stuff.

"Very fun and challenging!"

date: January 2, 2006

I must admit that though this game has a very simple design and goal, it provides a lot of challenge. I got to the last stage but couldn't get all of them when it said the end. That game was really fun actually and I enjoyed playing it, even though I have no idea what a skear is. Still could use some background music though. Nice job on this.

Author's Response:

Praise, a piece of contructive criticism, some info about your experience, a summary.

Great review.

More feedback would be nicer, but it's nice as it is.
