Why is this being shown?

Hm.

If this is suppose to be a squad base shooter, then its nearly infantile. I'm not exactly sure what this game is suppose to be demoing.

Environment Movement: The collision detection works, but its ignored by the AI Squad Mates. They go to the way point set by the X or C key by a straight line instead of the most efficient route. More then once during my play through did my squad mates get stuck around corners, until I gave a new heading.

Animation: It seems fairly solid. The Squad Mates get jerky if you continuously hold down the C key to make the Squad move up with you. It seem to be switching back from its moving animation and still animation.

Art Style: Plain. I'm not speaking to the background, but to the Squad and the enemies are bland. If you were to see this else where. You could not spot this game. I would suggest an isometric view point, to allow more depth of field, and make the scene more dynamically interesting. I would also stylized this psedo military away from what currently the main stream games.

Controls: They were responsive and tight. They were also simple, which is nice but that really pointless as there was not a lot to control. I would move the 'Move Here/Attack Here' Command and 'Center On Me' command somewhere it less awkward, on to either 'Q' or 'E', as most person use there three fingers in the middle of their hand for the classic wasd, in order to move and control your squad you would have to use your thumb for X and C, or reposition your fingering so the pinky is on the 'A' key. Both are just weird placement.

AI: The squad mates have none. Which could make this game an escort mission, if they have to live and/or pointless waste of screen space and code and kilobytes.

The enemies seem to have no AI either. As in, they would only be a challenge if they were meat shields for damage. Rarely does that work. There field of perception doesn't take into account of building which seem as if they cheat. This has to be accounted for with a 'story element' or addressed. I'm unsure of there path finding abilities, as I think they managed to follow me or one of my squad mates without much trouble.

I'd be happy to look for a particular reaction they are suppose to possess. To see if it exist but from my play through they only exhibited a rudimentary AI with nothing beyond 'turn incredibly slowly' and 'fire'.

Combat: For an Action game, I would say this combat would be bland as vanilla, consisting of enemies and squad mates that stand in one spot and fire. Boring to look at. If it suppose to be a strat. game then you might be able to get away with that.

From this demo, and the information provide. I have no idea what you are going for this game. If i knew that, then I tell you what I would want to see for that particular genre.

Good

it was good, in the final game, are you able to enter the buildings?

dnatoxic responds:

Most likely no,if we have time we might try to add it later.

looks good

seems like this might be a good game when completed. hopefully theres more than one weapon.

dnatoxic responds:

Yes oh yes there will be more than one weapon in the completed product!

meh, ok

okay. some graphics are good, like the characters. music is cool, but for the most part, you are going to really make a huge effort to make this good.

dnatoxic responds:

yup

not too bad

But the guys are much too slow and sound effects would be nice. But like I said, not too bad.

dnatoxic responds:

Just a "tech" demo. :)
