- World War Risiko!
This submission was BLAMMED by our users.
Here is its eulogy, a collection of the kind words written about it while still among the living. They shall live on forever in its place.

Destroy enemy force In this Risiko! game!
It's good, especially if this is your first flash (which it appears to be).
However, I'm docking a few points for originality. I've seen several games that are nearly identical in concept and look. Cookie-cutter games aren't as fun as original one's. Brainstorm a bit harder for the next one, and you should be good. ;)
It would be better if you could also move armies at the end of your turn.
Fun to play, but I got a little bored after a while
I like this game, but you should add more maps, and maybe a mission, like "conquir europe" or "kill the purple dudes"
I liked the sprites of soldiers
pretty awesome
It remember me on my favourite flash game dice, but this one is better, because of the design. great job! Give us more games!!
One, I love this game, I love risk, but its missing two vital parts of risk.
1. Army Placement at the beginning. We all know we hate that guy who gets Australia in the actual game, because he has the strategic advantage. Having random Troop placement takes out the first part of the game, which is crucial. Having the armies scattered all over the place, with no choice of amounts, is bad news.
2. Troop movement at the end. Its a bad time when you just did an amazing push, to only have a line of 1 troops, at the end.
This is a great game. The reason why everyones like "wth? this isn't how you place risk!" is because they obviously never played the kdice. I absolutely love the strategic and luck combination, and also like how you made the invading rolls have a disadvantage :D. Gives more suspense to it when everyones obliterating eachother every five seconds :P.
I'm not sure, but this may be stolen. This first appeared on addicting games and freaky tiki. I really don't want to accuse RockmanZ90 of anything, but I can't find anything linking him to either of those places (they both made the game)
(I missed the period when you can blow the whistle)
"Woot risk but takes less than 3 hours to complete!"
I do like a good game of risk, and this is a very good shortened version. ^^
I don't mind the random troop placement but it does need a troop movement thing so that it can be even better. :3
Good going.
touch
Im thinking its stolen too but you never know :p Itll get sorted out later im sure.
On the other hand not bein able to keep more than 1 troop defending your territory is annoying
It's a good game and you do realize that games go on other sites other than newgrounds, right? I mean, newgrounds may be the most popular site, but addicting games and that other site may just as well had it uploaded to their site by the same person.
Oops, did I reveal a big secret? Tough shit, isn't it?
It's the board game Risk!
I can't stand d6 games, because you end up with really off-the-wall results some times. EG: a 6d6 army is able to fend off my 8d6 army. That's BS. Likewise, it was annoying how the reinforcements would get deposited randomly in your territories, and you had no option to advance troops from the back lines to the front lines. So, there was a constant struggle on borders while the rear lines had tons of guys. I would control most of the map, but the last guy would be such a pain to take out because it just kept going back and forth. The strategy was to just take as much land as you could, knowing you'd get more reinforcements at the end of the turn that way, but you'd constantly contest for the same 5-6 areas. It was fun, but it just seemed the d6 added a little TOO much randomness to the play.
Was fun to play, felt a little bit weighed towards me to win, saw alot of dice rolled in my favor, could just be me. Overall, not bad, could be better with a little bit of tweaking.
I can't help but think that this is just dice wars with some new graphical and audio features.
Ah, good old Risk. I prefer Dice Wars, myself, but this implementation has some good qualities. The graphics are very cool, but also kinda small and hard to see. I liked how planes were the ultimate unit. The sound effects were a nice touch. I found the music a little repetitive, but it wasn't annoying enough to make me mute it. Presentation aside, this felt like a good game of Risk to me.
The map generation seems weighted in favor of producing large countries that comprise many hexes, compared to other similar implementations I've seen. This results in slightly more varied borders-- I frequently had my pick between different directions I could go from any one country. Also, the statistics seemed to work out the way I expected them to a large percentage of the time. Maybe I just had more options on any given turn because of the border thing, so I was able to cherry-pick my conflicts a little bit more frequently. Who knows.
Additional dice are distributed perfectly evenly among units selected to receive them, rather than each die going to a random unit. This results in a more even spread. When you gain and hold a lot of land, you'll see lots of fours, as opposed to a couple sevens or eights and a ton of ones. This lowers the randomness of the whole game, and seems to make strategy more significant than it otherwise might be.
So, it's a decent game of risk, with some pretty graphics. Good for RockmanZ90. But overall, it doesn't bring anything new in terms of gameplay. I would like to see this engine repurposed for some kinda RPG or sim game. Give us another axis of gameplay upon which to measure risk VS reward. Resources to gather, tile development, bonuses to collect, something like that. Risk is fine, but even a few Achievements would have gone a long way towards breathing new life into this time-honored classic.
To the author: Keep up the good work. And I can't wait to see something more creative from you in the future.
I didnt think id like this game much but for some reason, i couldnt stop playing untill i won a round. Which took long enough thats for sure. the dice results are a little conservative, it would be nice to see my 7 beat the 8 every now and then. I never once saw a number win if it was 2 below the attacker. Anyway, it took a bit too long to play because of its predictable dice, but the graphics are nice and it was pretty fun to play otherwise. Good job. OOOO and please alow me to move my own units around on my territory.
I love risk so I'm really into this game. The graphics are really well done and the music was good. The only thing I didn't like was not being able to place my own reinforcments. Other than that I was great.
addictive but needs a bit more diversity, such as more difficulty and a level highr than 8, but it seems like ive seen it before, idk, but good game.
You're exactly right. This is just an updated dice wars. That's ok though, because dice wars is pretty fun. The biggest problem with this game is that there is no representation of losses on the winning attacker's side. In real risk (or in real life), a 10-8 battle would probably leave the attacker decimated, but in this game, you keep all of your troops. It changes the strategy to encourage fighting the largest force you know you can beat, and ignoring the small ones until there are no big armies left to fight. Kind of odd gameplay.
its kinda like risk, and i think the same as sharkbite, i would like to place wherever i want my reinforcements, but its ok
I must say, it's very well done. It gives the real spirit of Risiko in a flash game. Just a suggestion. If you plan on making a sequel or something, you could give the option of transferring troops between adiacent territories.
Just two minor points: the ability to place your reinforcements where you want and the ability to move troops between territories you own. Other than that, very good
In the original risk (or risiko) game I guess, you don't keep all your forces when you win. This is for a reason, the game is kinda lame without it!
It could be better if you'd had a ability to move your forces in your own countries but even that is not in your game.
It has so much potentional that it's kind of a shame that you didn't just finished it!
Love it. It's great. It's risk with randomized maps which is my only know against Risk. It's the same map every time... Forever! I can only think of 2 things that would have made this game a 10 for me.
1. You have to be able to move units around your connected territories. However I'm sure that programming the AI to do the saem effectively is going to be a BATCH!
2. Larger and better placed null spaces. Nearly every game is like fighting for Pangea. This really kills alot of potential for trying to capture strategic points.
Now make a Stratego damnit! I bid it!
multyplayer version... several years old
LOVE IT!!!!! YAY!!! NICE GAME
there is no reason or incentive to playing intelligently
you can just power your way through and beat the game
not really balanced
Dice wars anyone? Game wasn't fun at all. No strategy WHATSOEVER! Soldier placement would make it a lot better. I would give it at least an 8 if you could put that in but as it stands it's dice wars with randomized maps.
But there's no A.I. for the enemy.
Other than that, it's a flawless puzzle game.
It was kinda fun. Took me like 3 tries to beat and after that kinda done with it. troop placement would have been better!
But not biased on the fact that I hated risk to begin with (60% luck, 25% diplomacy, and 15% skill), this feels like a 9/10. Mostly because the sound was great, I saw no bugs, and it played the way risk would except with different maps now.
An improvement to the game definitely. I do recommend you try this game and if you don't like it, then it's just your personal disfavor for the game since this doesn't have anything too "radical" of change from the origional risk.
I wonder if the author did this to test his programming skills, to make some extra money, or to say he can play a new game of risk every time =D. I bet all of the above. Still great work Rockman!
Thought the game was great as far as it being stolen games will be on other sites that does not mean it is stolen that is just nonsense that guy is just a hater not only that how naive is it to think this game would only be on one site
Not bad, a kind of risk but less fun. Sad because this game had great potential i think.
so there's a lot you can do with this. I thought it would be neater to have an actual map of the world/north america and you can battle on that instead of generic game boards.. but yes its a good game, also it would be really good with local/online multiplayer.
this game is old! i played it along long time ago!!! any way, good game. ^_^
It was well made, ubt that idea has been done a thousand times over. Go find an original idea, and you could make a really good game!
Why can't you move reinforcements? What use is a group of 8 units if they are in the center of my terriory? and why can't you choose where your units go? The concept is not good and the gameplay is just annoying.
I agree with others in saying that there was missed potential here.
However, as is, I found it to be a very enjoyable game.
Well done.
I found this game to be a very enjoyable game.
Nice job.
Maybe you did this first, but I donno.. I saw it on another web site a long time ago, I LOVE this game, and on this other website it's called World War, so it makes me further believe it might be stolen. 10/10 and 5/5, and I hope you didn't steal it.
Great game, good music, not hard on the ears while playing. And, the game play was good, of course i was never able to win, but i got down to two teams when playing against 5 teams. but, only with one plane... and then lost... but other than that, it was Great, easy and fun
He gave credits.. its not stolen.. u stupid or wat.. or u didnt SEE the BIG BIG BIG ADDICTINGGAMES.COM at the start of the flash?
No wonder why your whistle is broken..
It was super easy, but really fun to play.
music was awesome. game play in general was great.
im gonna play again!
i really like this game but its too easy with more players
You need to be able to move troops
not just attack the territory next to you. I lost because i would attack, and that would make the territory i jst left vulnerable and i would lose it in a second.
Music - 10
Graphics - 10
http://www.gamedesign.jp/flash/dice/d ice.html
The graphics are better, but it loses its straightforward playstyle and speed. It's just not the same. I'll stick to my dicewars, thank you.
no difficulty setting, and it seems the AI is designed to make the player destined to fail.
I really like the gameplay concept here, but it was done two years ago, and better, here: http://www.gamedesign.jp/fla sh/dice/dice.html
I had to rely on the numbers to tell how many troops were in each area, and considering that the dice always came up all fours, the battle pop-up didn't add to much. Also, the colors are hard to tell apart.
I like the direction you took this, but it ultimately made it harder and slower to play. Maybe just have a few more beta-testers? and take a look at some screenshots just in terms of visual appeal, with no relation to gameplay?
Music and graphics are nice, and I like the gameplay, but there are two major flaws in this game. First, WHY CAN'T I MOVE MY TROOPS? I'm getting blasted on the frontlines every turn while I have five 8's chillin' in the back! Big problem that needs fixing ASAP. Second, difficulty settings would be nice.
You need to add difficulty settings... This game is too easy... Oh and why can't i move my troops?
its fun for a little while
It lacked options, such as difficulty settings, and the game was way too easy. Despite this, it was a really fun game to play. The maps could use some work, too, add some more interesting elements, to make it more human - more like Risk, less like Settlers.
It has been here long time a go. Sometimes the map is unbalanced.
a actual campaign on pre made balanced maps would make this game replayable.
Way too easy, needs some diffuctly options.
The maps need to auto balance
There is no stragey involved, infranty owns tanks? infranty owning aircraft...
it would be better if you had the reinforcment points at each of each turn to upgrade for stragey purposes
choosing your own colour shouldve been included at the start, why it isnt is just lazyness.
this would be better if it was like risk
What DimensioN said. Only then worse.
Blam...
Great Time Killer. I'd like to have seen some bells and whistles but still exactly what I play games online for.
I can swear this was submitted before.
Anyway then like now it still is a bad game.
The game itself is good, risklike with random hexagonmaps. Lots of fun for awhile but after that it gets kinda rutine and you don't get to use new strategys and such.
The code, I believe is a straight copy out of dicewars, as the hexagons create the same kind of maps and the gameplay is exactly the same (along with AI using the same strategys). The only thing that is unique and selfmade (maybe, looks familiar from an other game) are the graphics, which look rather nice ---http://www.gamedesign.jp/flash/dic e/dice.html You be the judge.
Yes this review is against the rules, feel free to flag it and gain some points. I just hate plagarizing, so I wanted to bring this to attention.
I can see where you were going with this flash but the problem you have used two very "over-used" concepts - the whole map thing and dice thing with a world war 2 theme and the thing is if its not great - then it wont do well.....
I will give you summat that it could have been worse but I thought the game play wasnt real either - just because u lost in a battle doesnt mean u lose all the unit bar one..... thought that was a bit harsh.
this totaly sucked, i mean cmon the game started and all my territoy's were taken, eventhough i had a nice army and defence.....
aka dice wars....
I owned themm all! :D
ehehe.. too bad its stolen :/
It is challeging, it combines Strategy with luck, you can't have just a smart mind, you need to deal with random luck. Doesn't matter to me how simple or low the graphics are, i love this kind of game. And yeah, for those who quit to fast, it is possible to beat the game, i did!
It's great! I throughly enjoyed it. It was fun to play, the graphics were good, and the music wasn't annoying.
But it's not a rip off of dice wars (glares at all the idiots)
It's a flash version of Risk! the board game. Thus Risiko!
Yes the game is pretty much a rip of dice-wars, but, it's not just dice wars, the graphics for one are much much nicer, the menu is much better, the anim's are decent, and they base it around something rather than just floating dice, some of the programming may be ripped or it may be original, it doesn't matter because this flash has many things that the original dice wars doesn't and because of that i believe that this game is far better. Although a mention in the menu or in the credits of dicewars and a link would be nice to show that you are not trying to rip it off, but improve on a classic
The graphics and the sound FX are more than ok, the soldiers, tanks and planes have a cartoonish look that fits perfectly with the concept of a Risk/WorldWar/lots-of-other-names boardgame. The music fits perfectly, it doesn't disturb your thinking and gives the game the right atmosphere.
At first playing it I lost horribly, I was kind rushing on every enemy unit next to me that had a lower number, so the guys backing them up just stomped over me in return. But later I got the hang of it, and the game kept me playing for about one hour. The game nedds you to think and strategize very carefully every move.
Another thing I really liked about the game, is that every game lasts just the right time, I don't know how long in minutes, I wasn't counting them, you just "fell like it was the right time".
nippicking:
Maybe the "you win" could show your soldier celebrating or somethig, just the peace gesture was kinda not what I expected xD
Water terrain!! (with subs'n stuff).
Normal/Hard difficulty, sometimes the CPU players make some really stupid moves, like rushing into your territory leaving a trail of "1" units.
The BG music is right on what it should be, but 2 or 3 variations would be ok, like for example when there are only 2 players left, it could be more intense or "on the verge".
Great Game!! :D
The game already exists. So not much to do for you.
Except:
- much bigger gameboard on the screen, its too tiny.
- not always the same sound/music
- different maps; bigger maps, maybe like in the real game, with water etc.
best regards
Graphics: Even though simplistic, are all the game really needed
Gameplay:Perfect even if the concept is already out there it reminds me of the old strategic war games i played with my father as a kid.
Sound:Again Simple but that is what is great you managed a great game without too many complexities.
Overall i love this game its a perfect addition to Newgrounds the programming is well structured and i dont see a single real flaw with it.
-Upped by a guy with no other uploads here.
-Named "World War Risiko!" instead of "World Wars" like in-game and on all the other sites.
-Flawless English in-game, lacking English skills in description and news section.
-Also, apparently the creator goes by the nickname "Freaky Tiki", not an allusion to a Japanese videogame series and his age.
Are you sure you made this game... just wounding
OMG this game is SO stolen. How come NG didn' even check that before placing it on front page!
First: like Paulunga said, the name of the game is completely wrong. Its called "World Wars" not "World War Risiko".
Second: not mentioned by anyone, this "thief" got the SWF file size wrong, which caused the game to have a small white block on the right side.
Third: look at the author's profile. Even thou the game is fairly good written, this guy BARELY speaks English. In fact it looks more like gibberish from a 12 years old on some Spanish country then a devoted developer.
Fourth: Simply search for Word War by AddictedGames on the web. You will find the REAL author.
Now seriosly NG, at least check the user's profile before doing this gaffe =P
I've seen it before. This is a graphically "enhanced" version of dicewars. The enhancements just make it more difficult to play frankly.
It's dicewars, with nicer desing. Still, fun to play from time to time.
Why is this on the front page?!
Seriously... P.O.S. is all I have to say.
Nice game but again STOLEN
this was one of the most boring games ive ever played on this site-----very dissapointing
I want my 30 seconds back. This is just another dice roller.
STOLEN!!!
This was a waste of 30 seconds of my life
I'm sorry, but the game is extremely simplistic, and is not original in any way that I could see. It's a good game, but is seriously lacking in things to make it stand out.
Don't get me wrong, there isn't anythig WRONG with the game, it's just a bit plain is all.
this game SUCK'S
Just because you never played risk doesn;t mean you have to downvote it.
they are giving it no stars because it was stolen, not because of the gameplay. I can't believe someone would steal this, it isn't a good enough game to steal. the cpu doesn't make any choices, it just attacks whatever it can. that is very frustrating.
Yes, this game involves dice, but so what. just including dice does not mean that it is boring and tedious, on the contrary, this game is fast paced and exciting, and can get really quite hard. i suppose the reason you find it so boring is that it is to "Complex" or "Tactical" for you to understand. on the point of this game being stolen, yes, the submitter did, as far as I know, steal it from funny-games, which is where I first played it, but SO WHAT!!!!! If this game really was stolen it will be taken down. if not, we will all know about it. this review is to rate the game, not to slander the author for it being stolen.
on the point of gameplay, I have a few nags. one, there should be an option to permanently disable the dice animations, instead of having to press skip every turn. another is that the AI was pretty dumb, and occasionally did not use a seven when I accidentally gave it the opportunity to destroy most of my forces.
@Pointandlaugh: Well said! i haven't played risk before, but i am a fan of board games, and if the real risk is anything like this then i should definitely check it out!
