So close to perfect

This was a great game - well written, smart, and fun to play - until the last level. The shaky-screen was a pretentious and annoying mechanic that did nothing except frustrate me to the point where I was ready to throw down the game and go do something else. I did persevere, though, and was rewarded with a "Good Bye" and a song - certainly not worth the half hour I took trying to walk down a simple linear hallway.

Simply put, this game brushes past perfection then lights itself on fire and rolls around screaming. The story was fantastic and interesting, but it had no resolution and the game quickly dissolved into a frustrating deathfest.

Basically, if the resolution-changing in the last room was removed, I'd give the game 8 stars. If the final screen was moved to be outside of the door, in some semblance of resolution, I'd give it a 10/10.

A great game, ruined by horrible difficulty.

The concept and delivery here are outstanding - and, you know, the game was pretty good for the first few levels. However, with the introduction of the enemy oriented levels, it became a flaming torrent of bullshit every two seconds. Why do some hits cause instant death when others only do 1/5 of the bar? At times an enemy will do a little damage with a hit, then the same enemy will kill me in one shot later! The part when you have to jump down into the pit in the dark only to get swarmed by OHKO enemies is just fucking stupid. I was willing to keep playing, and see the ending to this bizarre story no matter how hard the game was or how unfair it got, but then I noticed the "commit suicide" button in the right click menu. Oh hey, easy level reset, right? DEAD FUCKING WRONG. Know those hours spent trying to pass those obnoxious dark levels? Well, have fun starting from the beginning.

Please, I know you can make an amazing game. Just cut this bullshit. I don't care if it adds to the feel in any way, gameplay should always come first in video games. Overall, this wasn't too bad, but the horrid difficulty for all the wrong reasons prevented me from seeing the ending to this would-be masterpiece, and I honestly think that's for the best. I look forward to future products, at least.

I'm more than aware of everything that is wrong with this game. It is what it is, it's a buggy game, even this "cleaner" version is still a mess.
I know exactly what kind of a mess it is and why it is a mess, and if I fixed it it wouldn´t be a mess any more, and I'm not sure I want that because I like this game being messed up.

My future games won't be like that though, but now I'm so obssesed with making things"right" that I'm hardly making any advances, ha ha.

Anyhow thanks for playing, at least you had fun for a while.
