This is my very first time ever using flash, so be gentle. Critique and comments are definitely welcome, but please keep in mind I've never done any flash before! This was a breakout game we had to do for a class. It's extremely simple, so any help on code or animation would be great. I'm pretty much putting this game up so people can give me feedback and I can improve next time. :]

Good

Its a good game idea and well implemented, but unfortunately this is one of the hardest games to play on a laptop :-(

its good

its good but you cant get the ball if it goes right up against the wall, you should fix the clipping for that. really good for a first flash though

Pretty good

I liked the creepy art and the lights in the background, but the center starting point for the ball and the problem with the ball at the side of the stage were somewhat annoying. also it needs sound even if it's only a background track playing on repeat.

CutelilDeadGirl responds:

I wanted to add sound! And I had a little movie to put at the beginning, but because of the due date, I didn't have time to do either. Also, I never figured out how to put either of them in. ;_;

its ok

Lets start with the good. The paddle and background were well drawn, and the birds fading out was done well.
How about some improvements. When the ball is at the edge of the screen, it can't be hit. The player has to mouse over to start, then the ball immediately appears in the middle, kinda hard to reach. When the ball is missed, a new one immediately appears in the middle, again hard to reach if it passed beside the paddle where it couldn't be reached. I would suggest a start button that appears in the middle of play, or click wherever to serve, and allowing the player to reserve when they miss.
