So I was going for more of the scary aspect of this year's contest, which I think came out pretty well. I know that "This is Halloween" has been done many times before, but I tried to take a semi-different approach to this song.

Last year I was invited to do a collaboration to this song for the NG contest but it never ended up being finished. I started over from scratch keeping some basic concepts from my parts and ending up putting all this together in the past 2 weeks, although in those 2 weeks I put as much effort into this as if it would've taken me 2 months on my usual animating schedule.

This is the first real animation I have made in quite sometime (not including a poor 2-day attempt at Pico Day) so I hope that you enjoy this!

Where did you get the song

Awesome song and awesome animation. Please tell me where did you get this.If you made it yourself (i doubt it) that would be quite impressive.Still awesome.

DerajN responds:

I actually got it off of iTunes, it is one of the songs on the Nightmare Revisited CD. It's This is Halloween by Marilyn Manson.

Isn't this the Marilyn Manson cover?
Really cool animations and characters. I loved how everything seem ever so slightly connected.

DerajN responds:

Yes it is the cover. It even says so under the additional audio. And thank you for the compliment.

Needs more scare but good:)

DerajN responds:

Well I was trying to go for scare but to tell you the truth it is quite difficult to get something scary without altering the soundtrack a little and adding scary sounds. In most scary movies nowadays what scares you the most is the short bursts of loud scary sounds that happen at the same time as scary images, not the scary images themselves. By not adding in those sounds to my animation it does not create the scare factor most see when they go to a scary movie. I although tried to do my best with what i was working with. I found it a lot scarier than any of the other movies for the Halloween Competition. I find it hard to believe that the judges chose Jerry's one that had that stupid scare factor of just yelling and scary images. I liked the animation, don't get me wrong, I found it quite funny, I just didn't find it truly scary. I just found it a cliche scare factor tied in with a funny animation.
