Euphoric Creations presents...

FALLEN ANGEL - EPISODE 1
Part 3

Here it is at last... the grand conclusion to the first episode of Fallen Angel!

Part 3 didn't quite make the Saturday release as planned (it's 12:45AM... I missed the deadline by 45mins), due to some issues regarding the dialogue in the film. After reviewing Part 3 I found that the voice recordings didn't encode properly, and it took me all day to make them work right. Some of the lines still don't sound great, due to the quality of the mic we used (I exceeded my initial budget long ago, and couldn't afford to buy a legitimate mic), but I have plans to re-record them in the near future when I find a decent mic to borrow.

Anyways, enjoy the film and let me know what you think!

I don't know...

Something doesn't ring true to me. I'm not sure what it is. The art in the original trailer is completely different from the actual episode. Not to mention it was submitted four years ago. Now I understand that life happens, that things can delay what can be produced. But four years and a completely different art style? I'm not sure. Something here just doesn't ring true. Don't get me wrong. The animation was great, the effects were phenomenal and the story follows a very dark and realistic course. But the difference here between the trailer, and all of RobsH66's other animations is... well, huge; and I'm not just commenting on the absence of a Bill Cosby cameo. The lines flow differently, the animation itself flows different, I mean, if you're going to make a teaser, isn't the point to bring people in and wow them so that they'll watch the rest? To say what I saw compared to the trailer, was actually disappointing. Now you'll hit me on my previous comment on how I said the effects were great and the story was fluid, but that's given that this was a stand alone animation. The Fallen Angel teaser had all of NG hanging by a thread for four, long, impatient years; and to say that this is the fruits of the labor from the creator of said trailer, is a let down. I think I've said my peace, but something about this Fallen Angel series doesn't sit right.

Meh.

Perhaps I just don't know good content when I see it, but I didn't really like this very much. It feels like the blonde bombshell was being thrown at me by the way she was portrayed, and the violence (though gripping and provocative at times) was overall gratuitous. Also, there was a slight hint of preachy-ness throughout much. This all makes me not see what actually is the direction of the episode. Am I supposed be considering the full effect of nuclear weapon escalation? Or gawking at the action-flick chick who crawls through grit and grime to escape with life, limb, and whatever clothes aren't torn off? A story can have all the good, core aspects that it's shooting for without offending intelligence. Perhaps by having the content be more mature and story-related, instead of juvenile and punchy.

But the animation was enjoyable. Very impressive on that front.

Well, where to start...

I'm sorry to say that this really didn't do it for me. I'll try to break it down.

Plot: Borrows far too heavily from other works - there was more than a subtle hint of Terminator to the whole thing. Not that I could make out much of a logical story progression. The unfolding of events just didn't make sense; vague allusions and nonsequential happenstance.

Animation: The background drawing for much of the series is sublime. I cannot fault it. And, clearly, more attention to detail was given to some scenes than others. At times, it was a visual masterpiece. Others, it felt very simplistic. Objects went from being very well rendered and textured to being smooth and lifeless. It was a strange mix, and felt as if you were in a hurry to finish it.

Audio: Over all, sound effects, voices and songs were spot on. If this had been a radio play, it would have been excellent. It felt very much like "On The Beach" for some reason or other.

Overall: Credit where it's due - a project of this size is never easy to take on. My advice to you would be to borrow less from others' works and add in some originality. Be more consistant in your animation and drawing styles - it will only benefit the end product.

Thank you for making it.
