Okay so I debated even putting this on Newgrounds, but people told me I should so here it is. Before you watch this, I'd advise you at least read this.
I wanted to make a short using the SNES game Mario Paint. I thought it would be fitting to use Frankensteiner from the Crapfest Force short I made over a year ago, since the drawings and animation are intended to be hideous. So yesterday I did just that. I set up a live stream, hooked up my old SNES and Mario Paint, and spent 12 hours making Frankensteiner: Muscle Quest. Is it good? Not really. Is it ridiculous? Sure as hell is. Why even use Mario Paint all these years later? Well, I thought it would be fun trying to apply what I know about making cartoons these days to something ancient like that. So yeah, this thing is built with Mario Paint.
The video I've uploaded contains both the new Mario Paint short, Muscle Quest, along with the original short, The Toughest. So you can watch both of them together in all their horrible glory. There is even a notes section with some more insight into this project.
The Muscle Quest looks extra terrible because its been compressed to death and blown up. The SNES video and images were captured as 320x240 images. The video was then put together using Premeire, was compressed, and then was compressed again when importing it to Flash. I also scaled the video up. So it's rather messy to say the least.
Anyway, blam me, flame me, or laugh. Do whatever you want. I don't care. But if you have fun, than yay for me. :)
