EDIT: DAILY 4TH!?!?!?! I LOVE YOU NEWGROUNDS :3 Tutorial collection too! Thanks Tom :D!
Wow. This took a while. You'll see what you mean when you see how much detail i've put into this and how many frames. My proudest work to date. This covers:

Movement
Gravity
Floors
Doors
Walls
Enemy AI
Attacks
Health And Items/Powerups.

Sorry about being weak in enemy AI, i'm not very smart in it :P. Right click for options, and enjoy - I put a lot of work into this :)

EDIT: Added Flash API - be sure to click the ad for me ;D. I like moneh :D.

EDIT 2: I flicked through a few reviews, some recent concerning the music. There is a right click menu with options to turn the music off, to let you know ;).

great

this is a fantastic tutorial and is very helpful. I'm just starting out and I intend to make something here sooner or later with the help of tutorials like these. I'm glad there are people out there that take their time to make these. :) And if your char is falling through the floor, make sure you set his registration to the middle when you make the char a symbol.

There's something wrong with the code!

Every time I try it, the guy just falls through the floor!

This is really helpful except...

When my character touches the ground after jumping, he stays on frame 3.

Awesome!

Nice job, this helped me alot in my Actionscript 2 ready for my platformer I'm currently working on. One of the best tutorials on NG around, maybe I wish for some more advanced options that could be used for a platfiormer such as minigames and etc.
