1. There is almost no luck involved with Talesworth. Opponents use a strategy to fight, just like you do. They don't pick randomly.

2. You cannot win on Normal by button-mashing. You must counter their strategy to achieve victory.

3. Level 1 is painfully easy by design to introduce you to the combat system. It doesn't start getting challenging until level 2 and 3.

4. The game is intended to be played on NORMAL. If you're playing on EASY, combat is just a click-fest with no strategy required.

Excellent

I just finished the game on normal with a Psionic, and this thing is amazingly well done.

I love the combat system. It's not all that original (in fact I think it reminds me a lot of WoW PvP), but it kicks some major ass. I heard complaints about there being no combat animations - I'm sure the author is aware of it, but let me point out to those who are disappointed at the first glance - there really is no need for animated combat here, looking at spell cooldowns and casting times will keep you more busy than you can handle, probably, especially with some of the higher level opponents. At the first few levels, the choice of spells is limited, so it may appear monotonous, but at later levels, when you have potentially 18 spells to track, things tend to get messy.

I also have to compliment the absence of stats such and Strength, Intelligence and similar, I was really getting tired of those in RPGs :D (this is personal preference, if you don't feel like this, don't mind me).

Low and non-frustrating death penalties were also a boon, and add to the addictiveness of the game.

Bad stuff:
You could add a button that allows the player to see character's powers on the main map menu, for a better idea on how to spend money without having to fight another round. (It's not all that important, but I think it could add to the general positive feeling)
Also, there should probably be a "Duration" indicator below the Cast Time and Cooldown.
And lastly, the randomization of artifacts on the Bazaar was a bit awkward, sometimes discouraging. Should have a constant number of equal quality artifacts, so that it doesn't happen that green floods the market. Also, there was way too much green junk in the market on higher levels.
That's about all I can think of right now.

Brilliant game, I advise everyone who's in mood for some fantasy combat to try it. If you like strategy, based on realtime actions and reactions to your opponent's moves, you'll love it.

Thanx for the review. I agree on the artifact randomization, I ping-ponged on how to do that quite a bit actually. For the powers button, I actually had planned on having a "Character Sheet" that summarized all your bonuses given by artifacts, but it got cut due to budget concerns. Budget concerns = my laziness to keep working on it :)

nice

took plenty long to beat and was addicting. I couldn't do it with the juggernaut but the engineer was awsome.

jinxology responds:

Juggy is built to take dmg and use it against the opponent. It's an unusual mechanic I think, makes him a bit tricky.
