"Form without function."
date: September 10, 2008
Music: Good but a little repetitive ofter a while.
Art: Great. I personally like the disjointed style.
Gameplay: Bad (see below)
Run jump shoot is fun, but there is nothing additional to this one. There is a down button which will cause you to crouch. But... there is nothing to hide behind and you don't stoop low enough to avoid damage. I found that down was never used.
There is also a jump button. Personally I held it down and never let it go. I Bunny-hopped my way through the first four levels and then said enough is enough. Also my finger hurt for having to click and click and click.
Simple improvements:
The variety of enemies is nice but perhaps making them weapon coordinated (i.e. only the rocket takes out the slow moving bad gut with the blast shield and the knife, and the machine gun is a great way to widdle away that the commando's armor but the magnus will do better).
Something other than flat ground.
Instead of ducking, throw a grenade.
Basically anything to mix it up. As I found ammo dropped too infrequently and by level four the arena was such a mass of guys that I avoided them all by holding down jump and right and then used the ammo I had gathered from the first and second levels to defeat the bosses. (all of which cant hit a bouncing jumper)
Long story short: This is an average simple game with great art that with a little more, could have been fantastic. (and by more I don't mean harder, I mean different).
At the time of review this was 3.37 it seriously should be 4.3+.
