"winning strategy, sold $200,000 on day 15"
date: September 26, 2008
On turn 15 I sold over $200,000 in food per day. The secret is to sell the expensive items at ridiculous prices. By then can make such an enormous amount of money on each sale that you don't need to worry about failing to sell out. Key points:
- Security guards: keep you safe, I've never had a gangster beat even crummy security guards, but maybe I haven't played long enough.
- Shop assistants: help you sell volume, executive and manager shop assistants mean a major boost to sales, but at first I staffed four of the cheapest assistants I could find for $20-$40 each. I started firing them once I had enough cash for executives and managers.
- Cook: at first, use inexpensive cooks that produce expensive items and fire cooks once people stop liking the expensive items that they sell. Your cooks aren't very good so it's important to switch products and cooks early on because customers tire of their poor cooking.
Pricing: Jack the prices on the expensive items through the roof, the price is only too high if you sell zero items. You can make a huge profit selling just 5-10 of these items at first, keep testing the limit of what people are willing to pay. Eventually you should be charging hundreds of dollars each, I sold 100 fat man's feist on turn 15 for 800 apiece and ran out.
Don't get discouraged if people don't like your food, they won't until you're hiring executive or master chefs, and even then people will be saying your offerings suck. The best I've got so far are a handful of "... not bad" comments.
