Been working on this for a few days.
Just getting my feet wet in flash, borrowed the space ship, completely re-coded and other minor details (bullets, other weapons, etc)
Mouse: Movement
Right-click: Fire blaster
M: Change blaster type
P: Pause the game
Using different weapons will use up your charge, so aim carefully!
Enemies CAN run into you and lower your shield/health
I really wanted the title to be Space Destroyer but apparently someone else had the brilliant and origional idea first so i had to add on..

Added a mute button for all the whiners who can't turn down their volumes.

ummm
good graphics and concept but... i was invincible... at one point i stopped shooting and went around eating all their bullets and running into them... i lost health but i never lost lives....

Promising
OK, it's kinda difficult to hit something when your blasters sit on three different spots on the ship and you have to guess which one fires, but the rest is ok.
They do fire in a pattern.
Also, you change your firing mode with the M key.

glitch
Apparently after all your health is gone, you can't die.
Game worked alright, I would have liked a menu instead of just diving into it. Enemy variety, a ship that moves with your mouse, and perhaps an ultimate goal would have given you a few more stars.
Yes someone else actually brought up this error to me.
Working on it.
